Thanks to Jonathan Beckett, I was finally able to complete a flight with the 737 Max BBJ.
His latest YouTube version of a livefeed he did regarding the BBJ is excellent. I highly recommend it and his other how-to sessions.
Given that Asobo and Microsoft feel that manuals are just too much work, Jonathan is a life saver. His calm, measured, logical approach is perfect. After watching his video this morning I fired up the Xbox, loaded the Game Pass edition, and tried his flight at Sanstead, only at Toronto Pearson, my local. I did a circuit of CYYZ.
I was able to use the autopilot and the ILS system to successfully land. Jonathan properly pointed out each of the many points to bear in mind, including that I had to be below the glide slope to intercept it. I had been approaching from above. A someone who has “flown” the A320n in MSFS 2020, the Boeing approach has been very difficult to master.
After the flight I followed the directions of ground services and successfully docked at gate 115.
I imagine my surprise to realize when I did a post flight walk around, that I had actually being flying a four engine, two cabin morph of an Embraer and the BBJ.
Seriously, the sim spawned an AI aircraft at the same gate I had been assigned.
Ground Services also cut me off when I failed to acknowledge their directions to the gate. Unfortunately, the only choice presented to me by the sim was “say again”.
MSFS 2024’s a joke.
