ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I have to manually reassign the Setups I’ve created every time I start the sim or select another similar plane or from helos another helo.
It keeps reverting to the Sim defaults.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.Create a new profile for your Yoke, for example, name it and set it as default and apply to all.
2.To be sure, close the sim and open it again.
3.Select the same plane as before. The Yoke profile is back to default 2024

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle, Virpil Throttle and Joystick.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
no

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?
RTX4090

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?
I don’t think it’s relevant in this case, but 14900kf, 32gb of 6000mhz ram

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

A guess but make sure you using the same Steam USER NAME, if you have multiple nicknames, that you set up msfs with.
Have a look through here also.
How to install Microsoft Flight Simulator on Steam – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support
&
-Always close msfs properly using the menu to allow msfs to sync with cloud.
-Running in Dev Mode might prevent sync also, but not sure on that.

I am really starting to come to the conclusion that there are some fundamental bugs in the controller configurations that are actually leading to CTD and ngoing controller issues.

Thanks!

Not sure if I know exactly what you meant about the name tag.
I use the same account and name tag for 2024 that I use for 2020.
No issues with 2020.

Are you saying that my name tag in Steam and now in FS2024 must be the same in order for my controls configurations to stick in different sessions?

FS2024 has been crashing since day one, Zendesk ticket open and I guess we’re all out of ideas to try out.
At first I thought the bindings didn’t stick because of the crashes, but noticed that on the controllers menu, it says Save and Exit. So Save it must, right? Otherwise this is another bug, whether the sim crashes afterwards or not. Save And Exit.

But to be sure, I started the Sim a few times only to check the bindings, and close it properly. The Sim didn’t save the Default profiles I’d selected for any plane or helo.

I’ve read people complaining about the same issue on Reddit, but nada here so far.

Cheers!

Well now, that makes a lot of sense, because of aaaaaaaaaall the crashes I’m having as well.
Beautiful way of going insane.

I am having the same issue. However I am only having it with one of my controllers. I set up the binds, save to a profile then next time I start up the sim the profile is there but the key binds are gone. Also I try to delete the profile and it doesn’t delete, it is still in the list. I even lost some of my custom camera positions. Hopefully fixed soon as having to rebind and reset my sensitivity curves every time is getting old.

Not exactly my case, but I feel your pain as well.
My profiles are there, the bindings all there, but the profiles loaded by the sim are not the ones I’ve selected as Default and Apply to all planes.
My bindings are not disappearing.

There’s definitely something wrong with the Controllers System.

I have not been able to understand quite what is going on with the control profiles. But the below are some scenarios I have encountered which all involve the controller config section followed by issues with CTD’s. I am intentionally providing the basics here to provide an overview, I wonder how if these sound familiar to other users…

  1. Initial attempt to understand the convoluted control config screen. I was trying to work out how the general, aircraft and aircraft specific sections were supposed to work. After this the sim would CTD every time I selected the default 172 Cessna. Bear in mind this is the default aircraft selected when you start out with MSFS-2024.

  2. In trying to fix the above I did a repair and reset of the MSFS-2024. Then I noticed new control profiles were not actually being created when I tried to make new assignments. Then I found the sim CTD’d every time I got to and selected the big yellow start button. Remember the sim default aircraft is the 172… to fix this issue I had to delete cloud based data for the sim. This wiped my log book and critically the control profiles so I was able to get back into the sim. The controller config screen was back to when I installed the sim and working.

  3. Over the last couple of days I have been trying out helicopters and setting up my heli hardware. Again, have made a few profiles and changes along the way and experienced another CTD trigger. This time when on the screen where you choose you aircraft. If I tried to filter to show just helicopters the sim would CTD. Luckily I already had a helicopter loaded so was able to go into the controller configs and basically delete ALL bespoke profiles I had made for my helicopter hardware. This fixed the CTD when I tried to filter by helicopters only…. I am just loading up the sim now to see if that is still working after a shutdown…

The glaring issue here is that there is clearly something amiss with the design of the controller configuration where issues with controller profiles seem to be a trigger for CTD’s.

Quite what I do not know. I wonder if it is something like a profile you create for one aircraft which you then apply to all aircraft causes a problem if another aircraft does not even use and assignment you made.

Well there you go… just back from my PC. Once again it is CTD’ing when I filter aircraft by selecting helicopters only. So really I guess the only way to prove my theory would be to create a bespoke profile for each and every helicopter. Or in other words carry out Alpha/Beta testing that Asobo have not completed.

Steam name was just a guess because steam allows multiple user display names and has caused some issues for me with over the years.

There must be something in common with these configuration drops.
I know it seems random, but its not.

Be exact with reports and state what type(keyboard, mouse, stick etc)
brand &model peripheral
control profiles are being lost.

Also do you unplug the peripheral(s), change where it is plugged into, use a usb hub
(brand, model)

Referring back to my above comment, I set all helicopter profiles to ‘none’ or default profiles for some controllers. After doing so the filter to only show helicopters is working again. It would therefore seem I may be onto something with regards to controller profiles and under what circumstances they result in a condition where CTD’s can occur.

Right now it seems to be related to sharing control profiles with multiple aircraft (helicopters in this instance). Even when those control profile ought to be common and shared between multiple aircraft.

Methinks this really highlights there are some fundamental issues in the programming and logic of how the 2024 controller profiles are being assigned to aircraft. A bug that Asobo need to resolve ASAP in my opinion.

I have exactly the same issue with my Turtle Beach Yoke. While working on my career mode, i encounter new aircraft with different functions. So i did for every new Aircraft a new profile like for the Piston engine, Turboprop and jets. And when i fly one mission with Cessna, i have to go to the settings and choose the profile for the cessna. I go with Jet, i have to go to settings and choose the profile for jets i made. That does not make sense.

Asobo did this with the idea, that we dont have to touch our profiles when once created. Like in MFS20 i was force to do that but with the MFS24 it should work. I think its a bug.

Tomorrow is the first patch and the next will be also the same week, a bigger one as i heard.

Let’s just hope controller configuration is an area of focus and we have a patch that fixes it. I am not holding my breath. :frowning:
