I don’t have this issue on Edge with Windows 11 25H2. When I reply to a post or edit my own post, the “Reply” and “Discard” buttons are visible and not hidden behind the taskbar.
Good to hear the “bug” is gone. Yesterday I actually tried to reproduce it on my side to help you and even installed Chrome… and then something weird happened.
I couldn’t log in to the forum. After entering my email and password I got this
And even today I still can’t log in to the forum in Chrome.
What’s even stranger, after installing Chrome I also had the same login issue on Edge when trying to sign in to my Microsoft account. After many attempts it somehow worked, but in the end I had to use a VPN to log in.
Then another funny thing happened - the Xbox app. After installing Chrome it showed a message about multiple unsuccessful login attempts (just like in Chrome). So I logged out of the Xbox app… and now I can’t log back in either
So yeah, I tried to reproduce your bug and somehow broke half my logins instead
I’m home alone today, so maybe it’s actually a good thing something broke. At least I won’t be bored while trying to figure this out.
If you figure it out, I will be forever in your debt. Mine broke many months ago. I think it has to do with Chrome and HTTP site tokens (which the forum doesn’t allow to refresh - as far as I can tell.)
I can login to the forum with Edge, but not Chrome.
When I try Chrome, I get the Microsoft login window, but it won’t allow me to enter my username.
Here’s my thread about it.
I spent a lot of time working with Experts Exchange, and none of the suggestions made a difference.
Disconnect the Honeycomb yoke from the USB port or USH hub.
I had a similar issue once with Microsoft Edge. When I clicked on the login field, the cursor would appear and then immediately disappear. I physically disconnected my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke from the USB port and after that, I was able to log in successfully.
PSA: Beware a possible complication when you install Chrome in Windows, Edge now has a hidden setting that will AUTOMATICALLY import ALL data from Chrome without even asking, unless you turn it off.
This means any passwords, passkeys, browsing history, etc, from Chrome will all move over to Edge (and this might cause existing logins in Edge to get confused, eg the forum).
To disable this feature in Edge, open Egde Settings and search for “Import” and turn everything off.
I finally managed to fix it. It wasn’t easy because all the Microsoft suggestions were saying that my account was probably flagged and that I might be able to log in again after 24 hours … LOL
I also noticed on one of the Microsoft platforms that another user had a very similar problem. He was 100% sure he was entering the correct password (just like me) but still couldn’t log in. In his case he also lost his Windows license after replacing his CPU, and it happened on the same day I started having login issues. So maybe installing Chrome was just a coincidence and the real cause was something on Microsoft’s side or …
At one point I lost access to the Xbox app because I couldn’t log in, which meant I wouldn’t be able to play MSFS. After some time I also lost access to the Microsoft Store app. My password suddenly stopped working there too and it automatically logged me out
I started thinking my main Windows account might be bugged, so I switched to my backup system account, but even there I couldn’t log in to the Xbox app or the Microsoft Store.
Then I thought: what if someone was trying to hack my account and Microsoft had flagged it to protect it? At that point I stopped reading Microsoft forum suggestions and decided to quickly change my Microsoft account password. That actually worked.
After changing the password I received an email saying that my password had recently been changed and, because two-step verification is enabled on my Microsoft account, new app passwords need to be created for any apps or devices that don’t support this feature. The previous app passwords would no longer work.
After a bit of stress I managed to regain access to my Microsoft account. So in my case the fix was simply changing the Microsoft account password, even though I’m 100% sure I was entering the old password correctly before.
I was able to reproduce the issue on my side after fixing the login problems and logging in to the MSFS forum through Chrome. The “Reply” and “Discard” buttons were hidden behind the Windows taskbar when replying to or editing a post.
It seems to be a simple display issue on your side. What seemed like full screen wasn’t actually full screen. After maximizing the Chrome window, the “Reply” and “Discard” buttons became visible.
Not the same thing. I was only having problems logging in using Chrome on my gaming computer. No problem logging in on any other machine.
It didn’t matter what I tried, the problem remains. I can’t enter my Microsoft username.
I believe it’s an HTTP token issue, which is machine-specific. If you read my original thread about it, you’ll get a better understanding of the totality of the problem.
The hidden buttons problems (which were gone this morning but are back now) are on this laptop, which has no problem with MS login.
I think those problems are related to taskbar auto-hide, which is well known to be quite flaky.
The taskbar doesn’t hide when I’m on the forum. And I have to window Chrome to access the buttons so I can submit this reply. That, or disable auto-hide taskbar.
As you can see in the screenshot above, I am logged in on Chrome. Earlier, I couldn’t log in at all - first because I was having some login issues, and then, even after fixing them, I couldn’t enter my login details. But I found a workaround, and I was able to enter my credentials and successfully log in to the forum.
My problem was that I could not enter my username. Nothing I did in Chrome (including a deep clean uninstall using Revo) or Windows helped.
The Experts Exchange folks basically threw up their hands after weeks of unsuccessfully trying to help, and said, “Do a clean Windows install.”
Nope. If I need to access the forum on my gaming computer I’ll do it on Edge, which is working fine. Again, read through my original thread to understand what’s fundamentally different between our two problems.
Maybe I’ll try to screen capture a video using OBS later.
I’m not sure if you’re reading what I wrote. I did have a problem logging in earlier, but after I fixed that, I still couldn’t log in to the forum through Chrome because I couldn’t enter my login details - exactly the same issue you’re describing.
After fixing my Xbox and Microsoft Store login issues, I was able to workaround it and successfully log in to the forum without reinstalling Windows.
In short, I couldn’t log in to the forum through Chrome because I couldn’t enter my login details. I fixed the issue and was able to log in to the forum on Chrome.
Here’s what I read. Maybe I missed something in a different post?
And this is the problem I’m having when I try to login to the forum using Chrome. Is it the same? What you see is me clicking in the ‘Email or Phone Number’ field.
Oddly enough, it’s doing the same thing now when I try to use Edge.
Here I try to login on microsoft.com
It lets me enter my username, but at 00:44 you see the same thing happening when I try to enter a password.
There’s no problem signing out and back in to the Xbox App using my Microsoft account.
So there’s no problem with the account itself.
Yep, I wrote that after fixing my main problem with changing the password to my Microsoft account, I couldn’t log in to the forum using Chrome because I wasn’t able to enter my login details. Fixing that issue took me maybe a minute.
I’ll repeat it again - in Chrome I couldn’t enter my login details either, exactly like you.
If you send me a private message, I’ll explain what you need to do to log in to Microsoft account and the forum using Chrome.
