Because HDR uses a specific codec to store the level of brightness, contrast, and colour depth for each pixels. If you have an HDR capable monitor/TV. Those extra information can be read and interpreted correctly to the screen, showing you the intended picture.
But when you store that image as a screenshot, the picture can’t store the extra data that the HDR gives, so it will always show washed our images because it’s missing the information that’s coming from the HDR. So the display didn’t have those information to display the image correctly.
This works both ways unfortunately. If you have an HDR video but playing it on an non-HDR display. Then the display can’t interpret the extra information of the HDR, thus making it look washed out as well.
Videos we have HDR10 standards or Dolby Vision that’s baked into the codec of the video. But I don’t think we have one standard image format that can store HDR data.

I get the popping noises and it drives me nuts, I regret buying the G9.
Why not relay the audio via a separate sound system instead, like an Atmos soundbar? Maybe that could resolve the popping noise.
I have an Oddesy I’ll sell ya if you’re in the US. I used it for two days, then discovered VR.
