New MSFS 2020 - Cessna L-19 Bird Dog to be released today

what exactly are you alleging ???

  • Inoperable switches
  • Upside down switches (you know how confusing that is to someone with 30+ years of muscle memory in aircraft)
  • No Instrument panel views using MS default pov/hat switch
  • Default Zoom View is unusable (especially without instrument view)
THIS Has nothing to do with BBS ------- * Aircraft is sometimes invisible on cold/dark start
THIS Has Nothing to do with BBS ------- * No idea what happens on landing on water with overstress?
  • Fuel selector has no off position (all instead) and doesn’t go to that position once turned from it
  • CDI goes haywire (to/from)
  • magnetos broken (scroll past both and it actually starts as if the start option is invisibly there)
THIS Is due to Faulty K Var ----- * Can’t actually start the aircraft using proper procedures. (you have to know tricks that are undocumented)
THIS Has nothing to do with BBS ----- * Model can be frozen on load
  • No gear up switch in cockpit with floats
THIS Has nothing to do with BBS ----- * Trim by default is pitch way down which makes takeoffs really difficult, and no indication of neutral trim

I guess I’d have to ask why none of the other aircraft are exhibiting these problems then?

How is Asobo responsible for upside down switches? or invisible aircraft? or any of the above?

If any of this is true, then help me understand.

I may have misread your post, only the items you put “THIS Has nothing to do with BBS” are Asobo related (is that correct?)

in this case its:

  • aircraft is invisible (this seems to be kind of a big one)
  • landing on water overstress (in fairness i did get it to land today, nice sounds)
  • can’t start aircraft (seems to be a big one also)
  • frozen on load
  • trim is pitch way down

Why aren’t any of the above exhibited in any of the other default or aftermarket aircraft

And to be honest, even if all the above were removed from the list, the list is still pretty large.

Why bother explaining ?
I have the distinct impression you wouldn’t accept anything I say to you anyway …
You don’t trust a review from a 3rd party who has a different opinion to your own.
The writer of which is Unknown to me personally and is simply a “SATISFIED CUSTOMER”
(yes, they do exist) Irrespective of how long he has been so ! That’s just plain disrespectful ..
No, instead you make inane comments like “I’m guessing you think we’re all idiots.”
I might retort by asking do you think we are all sheep that must blindly follow your biased and unfair opinions ?

I will continue developing for Flightsimulator, As I have done for the past 20 years
I will take on board all valid comments and reported errors, and I will fix them wherever possible.
This has been my Mantra since FS4 and it will remain.
I Have already commented on the errors you so kindly reported and I don’t feel the need to justify these comments to you any further. You can repeat them as much as you want.

So, To any genuine customers or interested parties out there .. Patch V1.1.0 was issued within 2 days of release after (Admittedly, rushing the release a little) Version 1.3.0 will be released very soon addressing most of the other issues .. and we will continue to create Further releases for this Flawed but potentially great Simulator.

Since you now admit “rushing the release a little“ (which has to the understatement of the year), how about those refund requests?

“why bother explaining”

Because I’m a customer? maybe. who is actually trying to give you the benefit of the doubt and be as fair as my current experience with your product allows.

you keep saying my biased review and opinions, but I have really not offered any or very few opinions in my review (other than positive) at all. The rest of my review is my actual experience. I left the opinions to the viewer.

You say that “You don’t trust a review from a 3rd party who has a different opinion to your own.” which is a narrative you are trying to paint me in. I didn’t say this at all.

The facts are I don’t trust a review from a member who joined a site to specifically write a review about your product who has no established trust or other reviews, who then posts a review about the latest version you’ve uploaded at the exact time you’ve made it available (when did he have time to fly and test this?) and then you found the review immediately and posted it here as another opinion.

It’s not his opinion that I take offense to. It’s the idea that you think your customers will swallow this that is of most offense.

I think all of my experiences as listed above are valid for all of your customers. Even the ones you may not like.

“To any genuine customers”

As you don’t seem to want to justify the issues I’m having with your product, maybe you could answer me what makes a “genuine customer” ?

Is it not the $40.00 I spent on your aircraft.

Maybe you could provide us with a link to your changelog, so that you do not have to engage with customers you have written off.

I truly do hope you continue as a developer as I have a non-working model that I’d like to get some value out of.

I truly do wish you the best in creating something great out of this, even if I do disagree with how you treat your customers, genuine or otherwise.

Still waiting on my email reply. Guess I’ll be waiting until Hell freezes over on that one. Anyway, keep going as you are, because you’re making all the right moves I can assure you.

To be honest @NightMercury358, If you have fixed any of the above and are willing to provide a changelog so I don’t have to waste 5 hours of my time trying to figure out what you changed, I fully intend to update the community on my findings.

Those have always been my intentions. I’ve been very honest with you and the viewers and forum members even updating today that I was able to land on the water and enjoyed the sounds.

If you intend at all to repair the model and potential damage you may have done to the first impressions of your aircraft within this community I’d suggest you help us help you and engage it (the community) rather than argue with it proposing that its our problem or Asobo’s.

Your best resource is right here even if we got off on the wrong foot.

I don’t propose that I’m an authority or expert on anything, but I have been involved in multiple open source/community projects across many industries. I’m not opposed to helping. And from my experience, neither is the community.

I do however call em like I see em. You can either see that as a positive for your project, or negative for your ego.

Balls in your court.

I’ve just received my refund. I think that goes a long way to showing better faith with the customer and ends my complaint.

Agreed. Hopefully, it will be worth a re-purchase for you in the future.

I’d certainly be keen if the texture work was up to scratch and everything else was working well. The plane has potential but just shouldn’t have been rushed out.

Agreed, my biggest problem with this is it’s being sold as a premium model. Compare this to any other $40.00 model.

If it were priced at $10 like the kitfox then I probably would have cut it a ton of slack. Especially if the dev stated that its a bit of a work in progress but I want to release it beta so that you can enjoy what is there and help me take it further.

People don’t mind buying potential, its literally what drives the stock market. But if your pitch is perfect and premium then you had better deliver.

Exactly. That‘s why people were riled up. Anyway, I’m withdrawing from the conversation now. Hopefully it will improve for those that stick with it.

See you in the skies!

Not if I see you first

Good going on the refund. Black Box - if you address the very valid concerns that were outlined above, I am looking forward to purchasing this. I do hope you continue to work on this to make it worth the price you have set.

As nice as the bug fixes are, at this point I’m totally over it based on the developers response. Black Box seems to think that if you have anything negative to say about their product, you are not a “genuine customer” and have an “agenda”. I’m not sure where this victim complex comes from but it is extremely off putting as a potential customer.

100% Agree. I’d don’t do business with anybody wound that tight. Too bad, but such is life.

Real reviews never end like this: :joy:

“… especially compared to the amateur port-overs with no cockpit and constant CTD. Why do people waste their time (and ours) with that junk? If you’re desperate for something ‘real’ to fly, the Black Box L-19 is one for you.”

If you have a reputation of not abandoning and polising your previous work, then many people is happy to buy betas/EarlyAccess … but you must earn that reputation first.

This bird has potential, and it’s a good oportunity for earning that reputation for future addons.

BTW, I understand somethings can’t be fixed right now because of the MSFS bugs and the missing features in the SDK.
