New NVIDIA driver 466.63

Driver 466.63 just launched. I’m going to test it and see if we got an improvement ingame

EDIT: So far no improvement on my side, the update added support for the RTX 3080 TI and new DLSS & Reflex games. This driver might give some improvements, according to people in the comments.

Let us know ! good to hear, there is a replacement for the old 457.30 which was the best sofar.

Unlikely any improvement it’s for the new 3080ti.

Hello,
I moved your post to PC & Hardware. This is where discussion of graphics cards, drivers, etc. goes.

Every time i install a new driver i have to reset my graphics settings in MSFS. Now almost everything is in low mode??

Make sure to check off the box “automatically optimize newly added games” in Geforce experience

Is that actually still a thing?
I mean is the 457.30 still better for non-VR performance than the current ones?
Or is that one of those things that has evolved into an urban legend?

Your experience may vary.

I think the general suggestion is that 2000 series and older seem to fare a little better on that older driver. Personally on 3000 series the more recent drivers have been just as good.

For my 2070 super I still find the 457.30 to be the best.
I often try the latest drivers but I usually end up going back to 457.30.
The last 2 or 3 drivers seem to perform as well as the old one but the cloud quality seems to be worse for some reason.

So certainly for me 457.30 is the best combination of performance and quality.

Haven’t tried the 466.63 yet, might give it a go over the weekend but I suspect I’ll be back to 457.30 after a few days.

Installed 466.63 (I usually instal new drivers as they are released, so far with no issues) and tried a local trip in the Robin DR400. Visually all seemed to be fine but had the occasional very short freeze, more often than with the previous driver but they were longer. Otherwise nice and smooth.

However this was my first flight with v1.16.2 (been away for a while) so it may have more to do with SU4 than the drivers. I’ll give it a couple of days with more sophisticated aircraft then maybe roll back the driver to see what happens, but I have noticed sometimes changes take a few flights to settle down.

For my 2060 Super 457.30 still better than the newer drivers…so far anyway.

I like this 466.63 driver though. It’s a close second.

MSFS was released 10 months ago. You can’t expect any change from new drivers unless specifically mentioned in the changelog.

The drivers still change. The fact that they don’t mention anything specifically for any particular game doesn’t mean it won’t affect the performance (for the better/worse or not at all).

2070S here, rolled back: 2 BSOD: DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION

Plenty of other folks with the same: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/455071/geforce-46663-grd-feedback-thread-released-6321/

466.63 really cleaned up my visuals. I’m getting great frame rates. I turned trees down as low as they would go and turned grass up to high. I think this is pretty accurate here around the Phoenix area.

I think for me 466.63 is a winner

I found this info what has been fixed rather interesting in the release notes since I do all my flying in VR and have a 4K UHD TV connected to my GPU.

[VR]: If the GPU is connected to a 4K UHD TV, the system may freeze when launching a VR
game. [3313315]

So, tried two flights today in the CJ4, one of about 95 mins and a night hop of around 20 mins.

No pauses, stutters just nice smooth flights. Although I don’t monitor frame rates, when I did glance at them they were significantly better than before - I have a medium level rig and am happy with 30fps but was seeing over 40fps at times, both in and out of the cockpit.

Perfect Performance on this new one! No stutters anymore.
