New Release: Aeroplane Heaven P-51D Mustang

My issue is the throttle will go to 100% (or any power setting desired) and the moment I release the parking brake and accelerate, the throttle retards back and i move it back up and keeps going back resulting in either a crash or not taking off. Is there a way to keep the throttle position set ? Very frustrating

It sounds like you have a double assignment on your controller for the throttle.

It’s a highlight with the hand controller to operate. Once set it typically stays where it’s set. Every airplane except the P51 works great.
When I advance the throttle in the mustang it stays until I release the parking brake. After a few seconds the throttle retards and the airplane becomes uncontrollable.

I’m sorry, but your response doesn’t make sense to me.
Are you moving the throttle with your mouse, is that what you’re saying?
Or do you control the throttle with a controller?

I had this exact same thing happen to me when I had two controllers attached, a joystick and a separate throttle quadrant controller. I had to remove the assignment on my joystick that was controlling the throttle, too.

But, if you don’t have a controller that has the throttle assigned to it, then my response is moot.

I’m using a VR headset and controllers. To use anything in the cockpit you highlight it with your hand controller and it turns yellow indicating what will be used. So when I select the throttle I can advance it to whatever power setting and it stays set until a few seconds after I release the parking brake. I can re select the throttle and set it again only to have it go fully idle. In some cases I can take off but barely and jockeying the throttle.
So question is- how can I set the throttle and have it stay set without it moving back uncommanded?

Sorry, I have zero experience using VR controllers (not to mention I need a new cable for my headset, or a new USB port). Sounds like it’s staying actively connected even though you’ve let it go?

To that point though, is it possible you have another controller hooked up that you’re not using? Is there a joystick with a throttle on it that you have connected even though you’re not using it? Sorry to ask again, but this is exactly the behavior of that setup.

All I have is the headset and two handheld controllers. Each controller had a mini thumb joystick and two buttons. Also triggers to activate and a thumb trigger on each handhelds.
I tried looking for controller assignment and couldn’t find any to assign action from the handhelds

Sounds like there’s an issue with the setup of controllers for the plane then. I have no experience with that. Though I think in the aircraft.cfg, the IKChains section has something to do with this. There’s not much info in the SDK on it, though, as far as I can see.

P.S. when replying to someone in a thread, you should click on ā€œReply to Postā€, not reply to topic. Then I’ll get directly notified of your response. I’m only catching your replies because I happen to follow this topic. Though, really, at this point, there’s not much I can say that might help.

Really appreciate the advice. I’ll keep trying to see how I can assign the controller

@Bul3tToothTony
Bul3tToothTony Turn off flight assist, same thing was happening to me. It was doing my head in.

I’ll give that a try

If you want to fly warbirds, I’d highly recommend you invest in joystick and pedals. I’m sure VR from the graphics/immersion perspective is amazing but using those hand controllers…rather you than me.

When you fly a warbird you need to be looking ahead as you advance the throttle and nudging the rudder accordingly to keep it straight, not looking down at the throttle control to move it with a ā€œmouseā€.

Thrustmaster FCS is a good budget buy for PC, the A320 control set is also available for XBOX now but basically the same joystick as the FCS.

Does anyone know what the latest version of this aircraft is, when it was last updated, and if AH notifies us somehow when (if) they update it?

Looks like I have v1.2.0 from July last year. I couldn’t find out from their website what the latest should be.

v1.2.0 is the latest I have as well.

If you bought it from AH directly, you will get emails letting you know about updates.

Okay, Thank you.

v1.3.0 was just released:

Changes :

  • Complete rewrite of the Engine and the flightmodel. This should fix a few of the annoyances that people were having with the plane on the ground and in the air. It is vital that you follow the manual to fly … or turn everything to easy we wont judge!

Nice!

How did you find about the 1.3 update? Don’t see anyhing on their FB page and didn’t get an email, but I was able to get it with my 1.2 download link. Changes.txt in the 1.3 download doesn’t even list 1.3.

I got an email from AH.

I’m assuming you also bought it from them directly, since you had the previous download link? I wonder why I would get one but you wouldn’t.

Might have just not gotten it yet… Update emails sometimes go out in batches.

Anyway, thanks for the alert! They’ve now mentioned in on their FB page too. Anxious to check out the update!
