So true. They need to get their head in the soundgame. It’s sooo important and a huge part of why people love these WW2 birds.
I certainly hope they get the sounds to a high standard for the Lancaster. Four Merlins in close formation should sound epic.
if they use the spitfire sound, since that’s also a merlin… we’re in for a disappointment.
Well, I can’t say I wasn’t warned. Merlin engine?? External sounds like a combine harvester with thresher attached. Awful! The cockpit sounds like one is sitting under a waterfall. Glad I didn’t buy the F3F if this is anything to go by.
Good modelling though, so no complaint about that so far. Seemed a bit docile both on takeoff and landing, but the rate of climb at a modest MP seemed excessive - but maybe I’ll be corrected.
Worst part is (at least on the f3f) the sound is just one file so you can’t even swap decent sounds in. I’m baffled at how someone signed off on those sounds.
A long way off from this: P-51D Mustang Ain’t Misbehavin‘ Start Up - Take Off - Flyby - YouTube
Well with the speed they are churning the models out there is no time for stuff like this is guess. It is either quantity or quality. What I find puzzling is the amount of announcements that get overtaken by different releases. It is as if they even do not know themselves what will be ready next.
I love the p51, just too bad it wasn’t made by someone else
At least they are “aware” of the sound issue, but I don’t think there will be an improvement done to it, I forgave them the horrendous sounds on the c140, the spit was definitely an improvement, and everything that came afterwards was disappointing especially the elektra
Maybe they should hit up whoever does the sounds for Big Radials. Their P-40 has really nice engine sounds. Some of my favorite.
Or Blackbox’s Islander… Love the sound.
They won’t do anything about the sounds, they never do, they don’t see an issue with it, the Spitfire ones are terrible, soon as you point slightly nose down they go high pitched and just sounds like they are applying some ■■■■■■ algorithm to them based on speed.
From what I saw (esp. heard) on youtube so far I am really disappointed about the sound. I will keep myself from buying it until it sounds like this: North American P-51D Mustang - Part 3 - Flight w/Cockpit Audio - Kermie Cam - YouTube and this P-51D Mustang Ain’t Misbehavin‘ Start Up - Take Off - Flyby - YouTube or this P-51D Mustang ONBOARD FLIGHT - V12 Merlin SOUND - YouTube
After the unfinished Electra and their rude way of communicating with customers I will not buy anything from AH, once they have your money you can … off
It’s hilarious to me that these guys announced the DC3 so long ago and in the meantime have release like what, 5 planes now? And they’re all kind of mediocre so my hopes for the DC3 have been adjusted accordingly
Not my point. Traced back from it’s current manifestation, it’s rooted in similar warped thinking.
Cheers.
I think I just have had it with their “PR” … check out this comment on a video about the problems with the Electra…
“Toy planes”… maybe this is just not your hobby anymore…
Also… they somehow always forget to let us hear the plane in their publicity videos
Well, they are toy planes at the end of the day. They are not training products, they are for entertainment. Some toys are better than others though.
Yeah… but it’s kinda disrespectful, but offcourse I see what you mean. I just don’t like the context in which it’s being used, as if we’re all children crying about stuff, most of us HAVE actual children crying about stuff
I understand, but the flip side to the argument is that there is an element of the community who do act like children. The perceived anonymity granted by the internet makes some people feel they don’t have to play nicely when interacting with the devs. Eventually that is going to rub off on how they interact with us…
That was a solution I was hoping to achieve for the F3F.
Do you know if a complete engine sound set can be somehow referenced from another aircraft?
