New Release: Aerosoft Bombardier CRJ 550/700

If I remember few 900 are used by American Eagle and Mesa Airlines in US

oh interesting, they seem to have negotiated with the union to bypass the scope clause, never knew that …

US Airways’ pilots’ union has agreed to relax scope clause restrictions, allowing the addition of 35 regional jets with up to 50 seats, almost doubling the size of its fleet.

Jonathan Ornstein, Mesa chairman and president, says: “We are interested in larger aircraft. America West is one of the few carriers that has no scope clause restraints and we could put a larger aircraft on to the system.”

The crj900 is not banned from the US market it is however limited to 76 seats to meet scope claus restrictions. Both Delta Connection and American Eagle fly a lot of crj900s

How can anyone limit (or even ban!) the most beautyful airplane ever created?

Aerosoft should definately finish this airplane (some little details are missing like Yaw Damper and Stabilizer Trim switches are not lighting up when pressed, of course the ground/terrain radar and weather radar, everything else seem to be PERFECT  )

Every screw is fully modelled in 3D and placed in the right place! A FLAWLESS perfect cockpit.

A beautiful plane indeed and graphically very impressive. But there are more things to fix than just that. The reversed switch on the fuel panel, zig zagging LNAV, a non-working FLEX etc.

And the reflectivity and bumpmap (structure) of the cockpit footrests need to be overhauled.

I will have a look this week into overhauling the CRJ cockpit a little bit. It´s almost perfect from a pure visual aspect (no bugs no graphics glitches no texture problems) but the metal and structure of the footrest textures can still be enhanced.

Add to that HGS modes that can’t be enabled, no way to change brightness of the HGS, the ability to take off and fly with all the hydraulics systems off and a list of others. Still a great sim and I love flying it but not even close to flawless.

What - this airplane can be flown with the hydraulics systems off?
Hm I am going to report this bug in the Aerosoft forum. This bug is too immersion-breaking.

But otherwise a superb airplane!

This has been reported already, Aerosoft doesn’t mind that. They don’t expect you to fly the aircraft in “not normal” ways, and as such don’t model such occurrences…
Similarly, aircraft surfaces can be moved even when shut down. Fine to them.

I don’t understand how the CRJ cockpit can look that good, but the Twin Otter doesn’t. Many poor textures / materials / reflections / models on the Twin Otter panel.

Those are two different teams involved in these projects, I believe. Aerosoft is mainly a publisher.

Sometimes lower res textures are a deliberate decision to improve FPS.

Where the cockpit is concerned that can be a genuine issue.

However, to be honest I suspect some of the super high res textures you see on obscure parts of the aircraft, that you never look at up close, are just for the benefit of those YouTube reviewers who tend to zoom in on something like the tread on the tail wheel and criticise the quality of the model.

When I pay 70€ or more I insist in having a perfect 3D model inside and outside to enjoy a wonderful and aesthetic pleasing simulated airplane.
There are no unimportant parts when I enjoy sitting inside a virtual cockpit and pan around and have a close look at everything.

For 60€ or 70€ there must be no “hm let´s make the artificial horizon and the navigation screen in good HD quality, the rest of the whole airplane inside and outside is worthless and can be FS2004 or FSX graphics because no one looks there while flying…” attitude

Luckily the Aerosoft CRJ has perfect visuals; there are no visible flaws that disturb the eye. But I cannot say very much about the systems because I have no knowledge about a CRJ, but Boeing only.

Just an fyi, but an update for the CRJ is incoming, hopefully by the end of the month…A fairly long post from the developers here:

Some fixes highlighted

  • VHF2 RX being unusable
  • Terrain radar added
  • Adjustments in flight model to calm down especially the pitch axis control
  • MFD DATA fuel predictions being completely off
  • DIR TO functions (including DIR INTC)
  • LEGS waypoint sequencing

TERRAIN RADAR!! EPIC! Finally! :ok_hand:

Hi.

Could someone explain me in simple words how to set autopilot in the CRJ Bombardier from Aerosoft that it holds Altitude and HDG?

Its so freaking complicated compared to other planes…

Thx in advance

Greetings

@Jab0m

It’s very simple, actually

With the knob selector below HDG select your desired heading, press HDG, press ALT and then AP ENG. This plane has no autothrottle, so you must control the speed with the thrust levers.

I recommend the learning videos from The Dude on YT. They are very good and will help you to master this beautiful aircraft:

Aw the first airliner released for Flight Sim 20, it still looks absolute gorgeous not ONE single visual bug no matter where I move around in the cockpit or pan the camera.
That some outstanding clean programming!
Maybe this beautyful little airliner deserves more attention, but it also got some hate after release too in the Aerosoft forums. (I don´t know why because I had none of these strange listed bugs occuring.)

Aerosoft should really take care of this plane to bring it to 100% study level (or maybe the new benchmark should be called “Fenix level”) and make more systems functional and add some interesting stuff and systems to the FMC.
This plane has absolute potential and looks absolute clean and gorgeous no visual flaw whatsoever anywhere to be found!

‘Most popular selling aircraft on msfs…’

Even the most bias salesperson would blush with that statement knowing that they basically were the only option ‘high fedality’ (if you could call if that) tubeliner option available outside of the A32nx for best part of the two years of msfs existence…
But saying that…

This has to be one of the most exciting developments to actually come out…

Funny how I was just flying this aircraft before reading this and with my hanger now looking like something incredibly exciting with some amazing aircraft sitting in there as many here would now have…

This bird still is fun to fly and it brings back those memories of the recent past of what we had and what the exciting future will soon become…

I have absolutely no problems with the CRJ apart from those small minor things that now become all the more obvious with the works of art likes of the 737 and the A320 fenix.
It functions as it sorta should in a complext but simple way. Holds and what not are a few small things that now look bad… But everything else works fine

Having the developers give this once pride and joy in many owners hanger… Giving this aircraft some much needed love, attention and basically being completely reworked behind the glass panels, such promising news for a aircraft I really liked flying and still much like flying… I’m soon going to be loving her and love flying her…

Cant wait for both of those radars to be in full operation and programing things in the FMC to be actually working, and not just a gimmick… The CRJ will hopefully be that nugget of gold made into something like a work of art and on the same level as the PMDG 737 and the Fenix A320.

Great gap between the fully automated 737 and the not so automated BAe

Keep dreaming brother. I very much hope you’re right, but I won’t bank on it …
