[New Release] Captain Sim 764

Well, keep in mind, that is $29.99 in THEIR store. When they come to MSFS Marketplace, there is the 30% Microsoft takes, so they may mark it up to $39.99.

It astounds me that while other developers are reducing their prices because the MSFS population is excessively higher than any other sim, so they CAN reduce prices, Captain Sim copies the same aircraft yet again with a new skin, and this time charges MORE for it.

That’s even worse then. :-1:
Normally stuff in the Marketplace isn’t more expensive than on the dev’s homepage, since MS takes over the marketing so to speak. Well there’s always black sheep. It’s really distressing to see that they have so much success with it.

It astounds me that people can get paid millions of dollars for hitting a tennis ball over a net or throwing or catching a football. Or a CEO can walk away from Boeing after the 737 Max debacle with $62 million paycheck when 2,800 Boeing workers were laid off due to stoppages in production. It’s what the market will pay. And yes, it’s often astounding.

When MSFS first came to XBox, it looked pretty bleak on the horizon for jetliners or liveries. Every 3rd party developer who was making an airliner at the time first stated that they werent going to come to XBox. People just wanted to fly an airliner with a real livery for the immersion. So in came Captain Sim and Bredok3d. Most of us were just pretty beat up and started figuring “Well, this is the best we are going to get”. So the 777-200ER sold really really well on XBox, because people just really wanted liveries. Now the future doesn’t look so bleak with developers committing to coming to XBox too. Bredok3d is actually doing a good thing, they are just producing liveries for the base airbus at this time, which are being well received. They, they are being smart about this. Captain Sim, releasing the same clone yet again, and charging more, that’s just mind boggling. But I suppose even if they sell a few, it was only a simple clone…

Simmers often scoff at freeware projects that can’t even be bothered to model a cockpit. And you’re surprised that people are frustrated by a long-standing developer who essentially does nothing but throw a different 3d model on a default cockpit for a premium price?

Oh if you look at it that way, sure that sounds disappointing.
I remember somebody else explaining they made far better planes for the older MS sims.

My understanding is they made better planes for every other platform, and actually had a decent reputation prior to their MSFS shenanigans.

I do wonder if they’d have made a bit more of an effort with the 777 would they have gotten a more favourable response with this. Like for instance, the engine page in the FMC on a 777 looks very different to the 747 page, and yet all they’ve done is had two of the four engines effectively greyed out so the values don’t change.

Likewise the dynamics, in terms of performance. The GE90’s on the 777 are incredibly powerful and I am sure it has markedly different performance to the 747. Correct me if I’m wrong, there.

I don’t know how difficult those things would be to accomplish, but surely for $30, they could’ve tried to make more of an effort.

My two cents, anyway.

Yeah, disappointing, however for me personally, I was way more trusting of 3rd party developers that came from other platforms. They had already established themselves, and I knew I could trust them. I’m really glad I read the CS 777 reviews before buying it, because with a “reputable” name like CaptainSim, it must be good, right? It seems they wanted to take a nosedive in reputation, however they have sadly gained a great amount from it. People who don’t read reviews, or just don’t know any better will buy this aircraft from the marketplace, and I hope that it doesn’t leave too bad of a taste in their mouths when thinking about buying from other third parties. Honestly disappointing seeing how I had higher hopes from CS.

They did not even bother to change/remove the “BOEING 777” under the Center Display LOL
The Real flight deck is similar to the 777 but not that similar
Talk about laziness and lack of attention to detail.

They dont care, given by their own numbers when the 777 released with the repaint stunt they tried to pull, they made easily $30,000 on Day 1. Sticks and stones and all that, they are laughing all the way to the bank.

It feels as if CaptainSim were older folks who are either too tired, unwilling or unable to re-learn new ways of aircraft development for MSFS and they are planning to retire soon so they are taking the last opportunity to make some really good money with the lowest effort possible capitalizing on their name before they retire for good. In that case, reputation is secondary… just a thought.

I really enjoyed the CS 757 and relatively recently released 767 for P3D. Their external modelling has always been on par with the best of the best and the cockpit texturing has been pretty good as well. I was flying the 767 the most when FS2020 was released. I then switched sims and had a hard time getting back into P3D…

CS had a really good reputation in my opinion before FS2020. Then came the 777. They were open about what it was and what it was not. I’m a firm believer in capitalism and don’t see anything wrong with what they are doing AS LONG AS THEY ARE BEING OPEN about it.

What I do not agree with is the way they have responded in some forums to customers who express their frustration. I work in sales and deal with upset customers from time to time. No, I don’t think the customer is always right but I believe in always being professional when responding to your customer no matter what.

To summarize, buy it if you understand the product and what it is AND what it is not. If you do not like it and have gripes, you should be able to openly express that without CS talking down to you.

CaptainScam is at it again, milking 30$ from unsuspecting new users with a very basic mod.

They started dropping quality years ago. Their last more or less decent addon was the 732 and it already was VERY basic in terms of flight model and system simulation. They have always made stunning 3d models though, all above internally with every little thing movable for those who care. The 757 was already terrible (from a simulation standpoint), the 767 and 777 topped that. They had used the situation that PMDG had promised a 777-200 for years and hadn’t brought it to the market and did it themselves, promoting the only version for P3D at a PMDG prize of 139USD I believe. Its quality was horrible. Their other Boeings were based at a price around hundred, another 3D model for a sub-version additional 20. They have always been shameless and tried to mislead people using good screenshots and hefty prices. It’s only now in MSFS that they are a bit more honest about what they actually deliver, but only if you take the time and really read the description, something many simmers have ignored as they used to be able to go by reputation and price in the past.

Bottom line for anyone new here, DONT BUY THIS OR ANYOTHER CS AIRCRAFT, ever.

They would have a winner if they released their C130 with the older style gauges.

Despite all the warnings it will sadly be sold like crazy, like the 777.

I don’t think this is the issue. They aren’t fools for not checking the reviews. It seems like its marketed as a full aircraft, when its just a cheap copy and paste. And we should care when CS gets sales from these aircraft, because it only further encourages CS to make more awful products.

If you really must buy this, wait for one of the Captain$im sales.

They should stick with their classics. The 727 and L-1011 were some of the best products they ever put out. However, when it comes to “glass” cockpits, they always “destroy” the bed.
