New Release: EA-7 Edgley Optica (ORBX)

I bought this and used it on Xbox.

I can’t put a co-pilot into it and show up and I found having the checklist run automated botches it up, it stopps at the choice of fuelt tank and does not progress.

Is that the same for both issues for anybody else on Xbox or am I doing it wrong ?

I tried putting some more fuel in one tank and tried adding co-pilot weight already on world map and the usual tricks.

Very itchy on the controls, this plane, btw.

can someone explain to me why it does not fly? I added weight to get the COG good. When I try to take of the tail hits the ground and keeps dragging. I have tried to slew mode it up to a few thousand feet and it just keeps backflipping. Very sad about met 10 euro’s. Alsof I cannot find an option get my money back

is you MSFS flightmodel on modern ? sounds like you are using the legacy flight model for fsx converted planes.

im not sure. I just have the xbox version of MSFS and downloaded the plane to fly around. Did not select any options

Hi,
I have the same problem with my Egdley (ORBX), bought today:

The system: i) Platform is PC, ii) I emptied my community folder to exclude any interferences, iii) flight model is set to “realistic”, iv) I recalibrated my joystick and other small planes (as e.g. Icon A5 or the Diamond) fly without any problems, v) I deleted and reinstalled the Edgley…

Here is what happens:
Example1: when I press ‘fly’ and the Egdley stands readily prepared for take off: as soon as I reach 20mph, the nose lifts and I cannot push it back again (even by adding weight and a co-pilot up to the limit). It hardly becomes faster than 40mph and then a clickering sound starts, maybe the tail dragging… soon after, the screen becomes black (“you have damaged your landing gear”)…
Example2: if I press “fly” somewhere not over an airport hence I’d expect to find the Egdley already airborne… well, it whirls around like a washing machine with ca. 1 round in 2 seconds… uncontrollably, until it crashes

It would be very nice if someone has an idea or a solution for this  :
Thank you very much!

You have quickly learnt what those of us who purchased this product a couple of months ago did.

The solution: delete it, put it down to experience and move on.

The description is the exact same that happens to me.

That maybe your experience but it’s not mine and I purchased the Orbx Optica on day of release and not had those issues.

And I’ve just loaded it up again to check and even with an XBOX 360 controller (my least preferred controller) it still flew ok

If you are having issues with it, either visit the Orbx Discord support channel or the Orbx Systems support forum.

https://forum.orbxdirect.com/forum/307-microsoft-flight-simulator-support-forum/

There is a recent post on there from one user who said…

"When trying to take off, I cannot reach the rotation speed (ca. 60kts) and the place crashes due to damaged landing gear. Weight/Balance settings are OK. 10° flaps, full throttle etc. Appreciate your advice on this issue. "

Turns out his issue was that the flight model in MSFS was Legacy and when advised to change it to Modern this sorted his issue.

Your problem is your Flight Model. There is no “Realistic” under Modern. You are using Legacy flight model and it’s not meant for MSFS. It’s been a pain from Day 1 because users who have no idea what they are doing enable Legacy Flight Model and then nothing flies. Asobo should have never included this. You and the person above you… Both should go under Settings/Flight Model and make sure it’s set to Modern.

This BS problem with Flight Model will keep coming up every day with new users. Why it still exists is beyond me. Nothing worth flying uses Legacy. That’s for old half-working FSX ports. They shouldn’t even be supported. Instead they built this idiotic way to break your sim into the settings and now we see endless problem threads because it continues to exist. On XBox it makes even less sense than on PC cause you can’t even acquire anything that can utilize this Flight Model. Where on XBox would you download old FSX aircraft?

Don’t forget people this hasn’t had an update since SU5 as I’m aware. I know for a fact they are working on fixing things.

modern_fm_only = 1

With all the work that goes into creating an aircraft, you’d think the developers would set this one option correctly in their flight_model.cfg and save themselves a lot of support troubles.

Buy yeah, the Legacy option should come with more warnings, as-is it just looks like an advanced option.

A hidden autopilot would be ideal to simulate turning the aircraft over to the co-pilot, which is entirely realistic.

If one looked at two flight models, “Legacy”, and “Modern”, why would one ever pick the legacy one?

adjective

of or relating to old or outdated computer hardware, software, or data that, while still functional, does not work well with up-to-date systems.

It unlocks those greyed-out options under it, for someone that doesn’t know any better it can seem like a more advanced feature and they feel they’re missing out on something by leaving it on modern.

It just needs to be communicated more clearly that this is a bad idea. And plane developers need to set the option correctly to ignore it.

I thought so as well last year. Modern had no additional options and I thoght it was the arcade mode while legacy had many configurable options and seemed to be the sophisticated realistic option.

This plane has had this rolling left issue since it was released (months ago on PC) and still has not been looked into.

I would imagine it’s proving difficult when it doesn’t roll left for everyone.

I have full realism in my flight settings and it flies perfectly level for me.

I have always wondered is the Auto rudder thing at take off, but I have that off, same settings as you I would imagine,
