New Release : FlyingIron Simulations Spitfire L.F Mk IXc

I’m unable to prime the engine with the new cockpit interaction system with the latest update.

Disable the new system. Switch from Locked to Legacy in Accessibility options.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will try to get an update out as soon as possible to address the issue.

QQ: I bought the Spitfire directly from FlyingIron before it was in the marketplace. I haven’t seen an email about an SU5 update… Should I expect that the old version works with SU5 or should I be patient and wait for an email about an update?

Version 1.0.3 has been released

Update 1.0.3 focuses on updating the Spitfire for MSFS’s July Update, which includes Xbox integration and a new interaction system. We’ve also included some particle FX and a few other goodies for you.

• Implementation of the new UI & Interaction system – including improved tooltips and controls (primer & door controls fixed)
• Integration of Garmin 430 GPS in the cockpit – gunsight can now be toggled between gunsight & GPS via the Gunsight Reticule switch
• Addition of basic Visual FX – engine smoke, contrails, tyre particles etc. More to come in future updates!
• Integrated engine block vibrations
• Numerous Flight Model & Ground Handling refinements & improvements (By GotGravel)
• Refined & improved Oxygen system realism
• Engine Damage now optional – can be toggled ON/OFF via Radio Preset Button D
• Improved Prop Animation
• Cannons can now be toggled on and off by clicking them (Website version only)
• Fixed lighting knob controls
• Fixed temperature gauge dropouts & bugs
• Numerous bugfixes & miscellaneous improvements to Art & systems

This update will be available to Marketplace users (PC & Xbox) in a few weeks.

Cheers,
Alex

Thank you.. Downloaded and installed. About to try it. BTW the manual .pfd is corrupt my end. Any difference to the earlier version?

The PDF manual also botched for me. It shows as being only 1kb which can’t be right so something must’ve got mangled in the upload.

@Donny6171, sounds fantastic. Now rushing my evening cup of tea with the wife to get back to the computer!

What a pleasant surprise! I’m a VR flyer who has been grumpy the past couple of days after all the new bugs/downgrades in my beloved sim. But when I’m skimming the highlands at 350mph my head isn’t still for long enough to see random trees popping in! Thanks for putting the smile back on my face - Awesome job :grinning:

Quite a different Bird. I hope it’s a problem my end, but it needs masses of nose up trim to keep it straight and level, even at boost 4-8. It would be almost impossible to take off with the normal one notch nose down - and the external visual trim gauge incorrectly indicates ‘nose up’ for takeoff. Also, its seems a bit too easy to steer when only at a snail’s pace using just the rudder on the ground. I think the differentail brakes still need some adjustment too.
Don’t get me wrong though, this is still a work of art. Love the engine block vibration.

The manifest still has the old version number. The game shows it as version 1.0.2 But I have all the new features.

Is that engine smoke for when the engine fails? Looks a bit much just to be normal flight conditions!

Yeah, I flew around with the engine boosted beyond normal limits and oil/coolant at high temperatures to damage it so I could see the new effect. It starts smoking after a bit and continuing to run it beyond spec will cause it to lose power/cut out when when too damaged like before.

I found out you can use the new toggle engine damage button to repair it without having to restart the flight (at least it seemed to reset the engine damage) which was handy.

Some really nice additions in this update. The engine block vibration is a nice detail and being able to toggle damage is much appreciated for the odd casual flight where I don’t take things too seriously

Going into beta testing soon:tm:

Correct. The engine will start smoking when the temps get into the higher range, with the effect increasing more as you get into the ‘danger zone’.

You can indeed also use the Radio D Button to fix a failed engine

The P-38L will enter into beta testing very soon, and we are expecting a launch within a month or so.

Donny, you literally said…

… for what you released today. You are the opposite of a dev  This is amazing work and a great value compared to others. Where’s my wallet, I need to start throwing money at you for the P-38L now.
