This is a very small detail, but I would love to see a modern pilot with modern gear instead of the WW2 pilot model (just feels weird seeing old outfit when im so used to seeing modern), I would also absolutely love a duel seater Spitfire too.
@AmiableGalaxy9 I live down road from Goodwood, spend a lot of time up there just watching the Spits
Doesnāt appear to - I both take off with the canopy open and open and close the corsair canopy at will in flight with no crash (double checked damage enabled too!), so it seems there is no inherent issue with correctly reporting canopy state.
I second this request: please properly support the SimConnect simulation variables (read and write) where possible. And given the fact that even the Corsair (which according to the developer uses a lot of ācustom code/local variables) is properly reporting CANOPY OPEN (is it also writeable?) it seems that it is possible to use it, even with enabled āstress damageā.
And yes, weeks ago when I asked that exact same question whether the Corsair would support CANOPY OPEN the argument with the damage system was given as an argument against it (but not sure anymore if that answer came from the developer itself). But it now seems that there is a way around the default damage system when using CANOPY OPEN (and flying with an open canopy which slides backwards).

(The given example is with another aircraft, but it illustrates the usage of the Simvar Watcher which comes with the SDK)
Extra fuel tank valve??? not sure what you mean, the external tank on/off? L:FUEL_ExternalTankSelector 0/1
L:ExtTankVis 0/1 though this seems to depend on something else? fuel level?
For the canopy: L:AIRFRAME_CanopySliderTarget 0/1
For the door: its a bit messy lol L:AIRFRAME_DOOR 1 = open 0 = closed 0.1 = the cracked open bit, but you can use 0 and 1 ok
Can someone else confirm this? With flaps and gear down, the Spitfire with clipped wings is not able to maintain 100 knots in a straight flight with max boost (full throttle) and max rpm. It seems that there is some mistake in the effectiveness of flaps in the Clipped Wings versions, the other one flies great and the flaps seem to generate the right amount of drag. Since both versions have the same flaps, there is definitely something wrong.
I tried it tonight⦠not that Iām seeing. Was able to maintain about 130mph (113 Knots) in the clipped wing with with gears and flaps down (and a 14 knot head wind according to the weather). That is until the engine starting cutting out from overheating at least (expected running full throttle).
That is the source module for my motion control software called FlyPT mover, if you just want to simply view state I think simvar watcher is an option. FlyPT is free though anyway so you could just use the source module alone - it doesnāt show all states though, only those of interest to the module.
I was really into the DCS Spitfire. Iāve been spoiled for the best.
I donāt bother with the MSFS Flying Iron Spitfire anymore although I had some nice flights in it. I couldnāt tell you how it is these days.
Anyone else noticed that since SU6 the Spit is basically impossible to take off without it going awol to the left?
Yes I know they veer left, but SU5 you could at least counter it with a good amount of rudder, now I cant even take off with full right rudder without it just veering left and causing serious issues.
Iām having trouble closing the door still on the spitfire while on Xbox, tried using both controller and mouse and it doesnāt close, fuel primer was fixed in the latest update but still thereās no way I can close the door, any help would be appreciated.
