JF are working on a Fokker F28 Fellowship and BAE Hawk T1/A for MSFS: Just Flight - In Development
I think they’re done with the PA-28s for now. The three we have in MSFS are the same three they developed for FSX/P3D.
Yes, both of these would be a bit different for me.
I’m not really interested in airliners (Fokker) but could possibly be tempted since I did buy the FF 757 in X-Plane
The Hawk could also be a change for me too. I was almost tempted to buy this for X-Plane 11.
So, yes, looking forward to both of these launching
I’m totally with you on this one!
JF do still have their PA-28-181 Archer III (and maybe LX/TX) to go
My first flight was in a Chipmunk, back in 1977 at Woodvale. Vivid, excellent memories. Getting back on track though haha… The Grob is a really beautiful addon. Did a 70 mile trip this afternoon and threw some aerobatics in for good measure. I can’t see anything not to like
I couldn’t wait last night. Ended up purchasing from IRIS direct. I love it! Just a bit weird to sit on the right side. Is that common for pilot flying to sit on the right? Wicked awkward. I had to switch to Co-Pilot view to get my bearings correct
From the product description: “The primary flight controls and switches are integrated to the right side of the cockpit to fly the aircraft with a right hand stick and a left hand throttle, which enables to transit easily to fast jet aircraft.”, The SIAI Marchetti SF.260 is the same way.
Just had an hour’s flight in the Tutor. Happy with the flying and the model - though there are some issues as mentioned above in the thread, plus I also noticed this seam issue - not sure if that would be visible in 2D, but it really stands out in VR:
I won’t be able to enjoy it much for a while, though, as SU5 just killed the immersion for me in VR, with all its little irksome bugs and catastrophic changes, as far as enjoying the flying goes. It’s made me stop using the sim and go back to older ones - when I can get up the motivation. What a sorry state.
Very happy with the Tutor, though. I’m sure by the time Asobo have sorted the sim the minor issues with the Tutor will have been put to bed. It’s a bargain at the current price.
I don’t fly MSFS as much until the bugs (altitude especially) are fixed. Just some stuff to test aircraft and that’s about it. They really need to fix this soon. Like you, I am flying other sims more often right now.
From what I understand when the air cadets have an air experience flight in the Tutor the instructor sits in the righthand seat and the pupil on the left.
I actually did not notice the “break glass hammer” until I tried out the left hand seat
Me too. But they don’t care if you and I and some others don’t fly. They don’t have to because so many fly in spite of the bugs.
Anyway, I’m sure once the sim is fixed it will be great and then we can enjoy it.
I dont get why people get so touchy over over the GPS… Just dont use it. Just because a plane has a GPS does not mean it is holding your hand? Just dont use it!! Its not a badge of honour to flying using any method, the badge is awarded for getting to your destination safely!
No Plane going forward IRL is not going to have an option for a GPS, unless it is some kind of kit plane. Also just to put your statement right as a matter of fact a GPS does not hold your hand, it gives you a line to follow at minimum, you dont have to use it? You can have a GPS totally separated from the Auto Pilot by the way.
I am all for flying NDB/VOR/Seat of your pants, but dont start making out that a GPS is hand holding, Lets see you in IMC with no GPS, low level a broken/unreliable VOR or NDB…you would would wish for a GPS! Also VOR’s are not being replaced anymore or serviced when they break down unless they are part of an approach.
This GPS doesn’t even give you a line.
Reading the manual for the real world GPS I wish the sim one was a more detailed simulation as it’s an interesting unit that’s very different from the Garmins.
Sorry I was talking in general… About the completely false idea that a GPS of any kind = Hand Holding!
Very true
Plus in the case of the Tutor the thing is so small just leaving it turned off isn’t going to waste valuable radio stack space
frankly, theres nothing for you to “get”. everyones purchase criteria are different. for me , lack of a gps is a plus, its presence can vary between being a slight minus to a complete deal breaker depending on the air frame
for some people , a functioning autopilot is a must…it could be window dressing as far as im concerned, ill never use one
you might be fine ignoring one, thats cool. im not- thats one of my criteria, and i dont have to open my wallet for an aircraft not configured as i like it.
i dont mind this unit. the other ones more commonly used in the sim are hand-holders
When first turned on it basically just reports your latitude and longitude.
People that are addicted to the magenta line can always install the freeware version of the gtn750 mod that offers a pop-up hand held (yeah I know there is no such hand held in real life) version of the 750 in a separate window similar to the built in VFR map.
It’s nothing new.
From a 1994 thesis by John Kirkham Bradley, entitled The History and Development of Aircraft Instruments 1909-1919, concerning World War I aviation:
This may at first appear a surprising statement. Instrumentation was a minor part of overall
aeronautical experimental effort, and had not in itself effected the outcome of the military or
naval war. In fact, many military pilots made little use of their instruments, except when in
trouble, and then lack of practice and mistrust led to serious mistakes. The short duration
of military flights and the need for pilots to concentrate4 on the control of their machines,
while constantly on the alert for enemy machines, made this argument plausible. They had
also been taught to fly without instruments in the belief that using instruments would
prevent them from acquiring the necessary flying skills. Naval pilots, on the other hand,
made much more use of instruments, as their war involved long sea patrols with less
enemy opposition.
Italics mine.
Sorry for the OT, but it’s interesting to note that there have always been purists… or Puritans, depending on your point of view…
The GPS sticklers remind me of someone who would insist using snail mail for all communication in 2021 because electronic communication takes away from the purity of the sentimental act of sending mail that was oh-so-revered back in the day. It’s silly.
