I’m curious what you don’t like about it? I hadn’t flown it for a while but decided to take it for a ride last night, flew over the deserts and mountains in UAE and had a great fun time.
No autopilot, no glass cockpit, all of the systems work and the DME and old style nav is fun. On the xbox it’s even better since SU10 with the new navmap which has navigational marks and frequencies on, this means you can really use the radio based navigation without any external resources.
It has excellent interactive checklists and it’s perfect for anyone that likes to twiddle buttons. And fantastic views out of the window.
It’s unfortunate that you feel this way. The aircraft will overspeed in a dive if you don’t manage your energy but this is reflective of the real world aircraft and not a fault of the developer. As for it flying like a toy, it is a very light jet with very high performance but it really is one of the more stable aircraft I have flown in the sim. I respect your opinion and certainly feel as though you are free to express it but as time has gone on and I have spent more and more time flying this one, I really feel that this is the best value purchase that I have made to date. To each his own.
It shows you have no idea how to fly it. I think Captain Sim stuff will be right up your alley.
C-22j flight model is really well done if you have just a little idea how to fly a light jet.
You have to use the spoilers to reduce airspeed for approach to landing.
Also - full throttle is usually only used for takeoffs.
Not for cruising.
The jet flies perfectly well if you learn the ropes.
Well, the great thing about opinions is that they don’t have to be backed up by any kind of facts. They’re never wrong, just sometimes… hard to understand.
For people perusing this topic trying to decide if a plane this good can really be priced so reasonably, note that the vast majority of us find this a fun, convincing plane that flies like the published performance/handling of the real thing. Love it and can’t wait to see Mario’s next effort. Been a fan of his work since his Piaggios on FS2004.
On the Community Aircraft Favourites list the C22J is currently #28 out of 142 that have been voted for (ie. that list doesn’t have the junk nobody likes on it). It’s probably also the cheapest non-freeware on that list. Enough said.
Seeing this thread popping up in the latest feed got me wanting to fly this, as I hadn’t in forever.
It is a really great airplane. I can believe I paid next to nothing for when it was on sale.
It’s biggest fault is the quality of the textures. I’d have happily paid more for it if it had higher quality visuals.
It flies really nicely. I found it slightly tricky to get the trim right, but that was definitely due to inexperience with it and once I got the hang of it, I could keep it within the operating window I was seeking.
This will be my aircraft of choice for a few days, I think. I need more seat time in it. I love how, like many of my favorite planes in the sim, it forces me to actually fly it. The autopilot is just too tempting sometimes in other planes.
I only have 4 aircraft in my inventory, and this is one of them. To me, it is just that fun and I decided to keep and fly just the 4 that bought a smile to my face when flying. And I only fly VR now.
I flew IFR from KCLT to KCMH in real world conditions at 20,000 feet and came through 8,000 feet of rain to a runway 10R ILS approach using the localizer and I had VOR 2 set up on the passenger side.
They got me lined up and down safely.
In the systems.cfg file the autopilot is there, and it is available, however it doesn’t work because it wasn’t set up in the [Electrical] sections within the systems.cfg file.
If you want it to work add the last line that says autopilot to your [Electrical] sections. I have added 3 lines total so you can see where it goes.
Back to the topic… I’m still perusing the thread (but couldn’t resist this subject)… Were the horrible inside textures ever improved? Has anyone tried creating higher resolution textures, does that help? Looks like a nice plane to consider either way, just wondering if the author has talked about updates…
(no worries, still going to read up through the rest of the thread, I already see some discussion with the author, hope I inadvertently guessed right on your next project, lol)
You definitely need to check out Archer374’s upgraded panel. It turns an older cockpit into the beautiful look of he personal jet that it should be. I absolutely love this module with this panel.
This seems to be a MSFS bug, where sometimes the steering animation goes ±180 deg instead of the limit it should (±16 deg for this aircraft). A safeguard against this will be included in a future update.
