About time this airport got its own thread, since no one highlighted its announcement.
Among the latest previews on social media is an image showing the inside of the tower, with a clock set at 10:10. I suspect this is the release date (10th October).
If you zoom in further on the image, you can see that 15 October is circled on the 2026 calendar. Perhaps MK Studios aren’t even sure themselves how long they’ll need for the final tweaks. Or maybe they’re just keeping us in suspense.
I’ll have to see how big of an improvement MK Studios version is over Glideslope Pro’s. Not keen on repurchasing airports so it will need to be significant! I have the same dilemma now with Venice. BMOTW’s version is more than adequate for my needs, but Atelic’s rendition is a significant step up and is priced attractively so I’m having a difficult time resisting a repurchase.
Not-just-an-Easter-egg: What’s that Live Cam in the top right corner of the linked picture all about? Is that dynamic, and shows an actual feed of the sim? Or is it static, and they staged it? The second is more probable, but…
If they’ve managed to get a secondary camera in the sim that doesn’t greatly impact performance, maybe they can share this trick with aircraft developers, so we can get taxicameras in widebodies that have them…?
So in summary, the hints are confusing, contradictory and offer us nothing!
The 8/10 guess perhaps has the most credibility because there’s a statement accompanying the image that reads, “One day, you’ll be flying somewhere you didn’t expect”. One day, huh?
Not sure if MK intended to give the game away but they posted on Discord that we will be able to enjoy their KMIA on 15th. Title therefore changed accordingly.
Just revisited Glideslope Pro’s KMIA after watching some streams of MK Studios rendition. It’s not even close. I don’t like repurchasing airports, but this will be an immediate purchase for me after seeing the stark contrast. Glideslope’s version isn’t bad, MK Studios is just that much better (texturing, detail, off airport buildings, terminal interiors, etc.).
I have yet to be disappointed in any MK Studios airport I own (LaGuardia, Zurich, Seattle, Rome …) They are top-tier in my book. I’m really ready for cargo ops out of MIA.
I promised myself I wouldn’t ‘rebuy’ this airport. And I would stick to that promise, had MK not done such a great job of the surroundings. Glideslope Pro’s version has been great — certainly airside, the differences aren’t so stark, to be fair — but it’s an airport I fly into frequently enough to warrant the overall upgrade.
I have Glideslope Pro myself and always enjoyed it. This one looks great but I’m not in Miami often. I’m going to sit tight….for now. I’m much more interested in Munich.
I think there is a significant difference between the two. The overall accuracy, texturing, night lighting and fine detail is stunning. Plus the performance is notably improved. I run a Pimax VR Headset with a 7800X3D/RTX4090 and have performance issues at all of Glideslope Pro’s airports without lowering my settings. MK’s KMIA runs great which is surprising given all the additional detail and modeling.
Me too! Like Jax said (me too above) Glideslope’s version is good, nothing wrong with it per se. But there is only one thing it does better than MK’s version and that is the moving freight train around the airport perimeter. So if you don’t fly here much, I wouldn’t repurchase it.
But if you fly here regularly or fly in VR, it’s definitely worth repurchasing. In VR the differences in airlports becomes more pronounced as you feel like your in the scenery versus looking at it. MK’s looks like an actual airport, versus Glideope’s looks more like an imitation of an airport if that makes sense.
