New release: MK-Studios Rome Fiumicino LIRF v2 (FS2020 & 2024 native)

Didn’t realise it was coming with a native 2024 build. Looks spectacular. MK for me are right up there in the top three now (along with, in my opinion, Jo Erlend Sund and Pyreegue). Available from IniBuilds and Contrail so far, with Orbx to follow later today.

I got it and am very impressed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another airport of similar size with such a detailed landside. And in terms of performance and LOD, the airport seems to be very well optimised. At least on my system, it runs perfectly. And that’s despite thousands of parked cars, moving trains and custom airport traffic. The interior of most terminals is kept fairly simple, which is certainly a good decision in terms of performance given the size of the airport. Overall the level of detail is impressive.

Appreciate your first impressions, gee the landside does look great and interiors simply done yet gives me the immersion I need without the performance dragging down.

Here’s the ORBX store link now up:

I honestly think we’re at the stage with MK where we don’t really need to be concerned about quality. In my opinion, they are now head-to-head with legends such as Pyreegue, Jo Erlend Sund and Flightbeam. I’d even put them above the likes of FlyTampa and Drzewiecki. The only other dev I’ve known to come so far in such a short space of time is SLH.

Beautiful screenshots and amazing realism.

Do you feel the same realism when you’re parked at the gates? (Quality of textures, reflections, and 3D models)

Thanks! I think the texture resolution is very good for such a large airport, as is the level of realism. The custom airport vehicles are also of high quality. In terms of the glass fronts of the windows and reflections, I have seen better airports, but the windows in Rome are very special with their blue reflection, and overall the terminals consist of a lot of concrete. Overall, I am very satisfied with the airport, even from the cockpit perspective.
