New release: MK-Studios' Rovaniemi EFRO v2 (FS2020 & 2024)

I believe this is MK’s first FS2024-exclusive airport. Looks nice.

But it’s not a 2024 exclusive airport. It even says so in the YouTube title.

Orbx have now added “FS2020 compatible” to their listing. Was only showing as FS2024 earlier.

I’ve just purchased it, so tomorrow I’ll probably fly there in the new PMDG 737 for MSFS2024. I’m a big fan of the recent work of MK!

I’ve just done my nearly three-hour Santa flight from Stansted to Rovaniemi v2. A beautiful airport indeed!

It looks great but I’m not sure I want to fork out £15 for it. Airports are a lot pricier than they were this time last year.

I wouldn’t normally buy this one as well, as I’m not that interested in flying in this area but this is just an icon and I had to do the flight. Plus I like to support MK guys. Funny to watch on Volanta how the airport has been crowded with virtual flights today :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I purchased it too, I didn’t own version 1. I think the modelling is on a similar high level to all current releases from MK Studios. I find the terraforming particularly outstanding. However, I am somewhat surprised and a bit disappointed that Santa’s village, which was still there in version 1, has disappeared. I was actually looking forward to that. In my opinion, there should be no regression to version 1 in a version 2 of a scenery. To me it seems as if there wasn’t enough time to model the village shortly before Christmas. But of course, I don’t know the exact reasons.

Another weakness is that there is no snow at all on the apron. This is a feature that I really like at Inibuilds’ Svalbard and also appreciate at Marcus Nyberg’s airports. At an airport like Rovaniemi, snow on the taxiways and runway is a must in my opinion. Other developers have shown that it is possible to implement snow.

I really like everything else, but to be honest, the two things mentioned above bother me a bit.

There’s a new version out now, with a modified brightness of asphalt textures which should allow the snow to be depicted and also Santa village should be back.

To be fair, with the 30% discount it shows £12.37 for me, so it’s a bit cheaper than £15 and I’m probably going to buy EFRO v2.

Where is it discounted by 30%?

EDIT

I just figured it out… you owned v1?

That sounds very promising! I’ll be away from home for a few days, so I won’t be able to check out the update until next weekend. But with the return of Santa’s village and snow on the apron and taxiways, I think the scenery is very well done and lives up to what I expect from MK Studios as one of the top developers.

Yes, exactly - I already own v1, so I get the 30% discount.

I’m just flying there from Helsinki atm, so will report

A lovely airport. Approaching it in a good visibility with the night lighting on is a magical experience.

I like the snow-covered runways and taxiways much better after the update! I am now very satisfied with the scenery.

Wow, that looks much better now! I plan to get absolutely everything MK release henceforth but this one will be in a sale. LIRF is proving harder to resist!

I own MK Studios’ LaGuardia, Zurich and Keflavik, and quite like them all. Although I don’t do a tremendous amount of European/Med area flying, I can always use another high quality international destination for my 777 flights (and eventually 747 flights too). I will definitely be buying this one.
