New release: Paulo Ricardo Recife SBRF (FS2024)

Thanks to mhron for pointing this one out today — I looked at the Thursday update in the MP last night and this wasn’t there, so must’ve been added later.

MP exclusive again but very reasonably priced.

For the price it’s a very nice addon, but I can’t deny I’m a little bit disappointed. Paulo Ricardo is one of my favourite developers and imho this one doesn’t reach the quality of his Rio Santos Dumont SBRJ or my favourite brazilian airport, the infamous Congonhas SBSP. The main terminal building (apron 2) is practically without interior - the only modelled interior is the corridor at the gates. The textures in front of the terminal are low-res at places, so better not drone around too much. On the other hand, the ground textures of the runway and taxiways are traditionally great and some buildings and hangars around the airport are very well modelled with some nice static aircraft. I’ve seen some screenshots of the Rafael Tango Tango’s rendition and it looks inferior to Paulo’s version, so after all if you want the best Recife this one is the one.

I must admit, it doesn’t look great. In fact, that landside looks quite hideous. His penultimate project, Joinville, was nice but the one before that (Porto Seguro) wasn’t particularly impressive.

Thank you for sharing your experience @mhron! I also found this website with additional screenshots and this video review.

Paulo Ricardo’s SBSP is also one of my absolute favourite airports. SBKP and SBRJ are also great. Porto Seguro and Joinville were a bit of a step backwards for me. They are still good airports, but not as detailed as their predecessors. It seems to me that Paulo Ricardo is investing a little less time in his airports lately. In parts of the scenery, you can still see the same talent that he undoubtedly has. But other parts of the scenery seem neglected. At SBSP and SBKP in particular, the interiors were of the highest standard. In case of Recife, the interior and the landside don’t seem to be very good. I think I’ll still get the scenery, but certainly during a sale.

I wonder if he will ever make SBKP officially compatible with MSFS2024, as he did with SBRJ.

I agree with every word you said. These his recent sceneries look rather like Paulo Ricardo Lite.

This just got an update tonight, along with Congonhas, Porto Seguro and Joinville. I can only assume they’re all now FS2024 native. Nothing for Campinas, though.

I’ve just purchased Porto Seguro, that one I was missing. I’m quite curious if that’s another “Paulo Ricardo Lite” airport.

The interior is kept very simple. And as far as I can remember, no buildings in the city have been modelled. In a way, Porto Seguro is therefore also a Paulo Ricardo Lite airport. But the airside is very detailed and offers an authentic atmosphere. I like that very much. Overall, I am satisfied, as the price is also very reasonable.

There are two versions for Recife on the marketplace. I ordered the first one, why there is a seccond one now? And it’s not an updtae cause i need to pay for it..? thanx!

I too noticed this. I think it’s just a MP bug as I’ve seen it happen before when something’s been updated. The MP initially sees two separate products when they are in fact one and the same.

If the issue persists in a couple of days, might be worth raising it with MS.

Thought something like this. That’s the reason i was waiting to do somehting…

The names are different, the later one has “International Airport”.
Also one is version 1.1.0, compatible only with 2024.
And one is version 1.1.1., compatible with 2020 and 2024…

Very strange.

So one’s native, and the other merely compatible. If you own one, the other should be free, but the MP doesn’t always reflect this. Worth creating a ticket with MS or the dev — whenever this has happened before, they’ve always fixed it.

Created a bug report!

Since I think the price for such a large airport is very reasonable, I decided to buy Recife despite my doubts. And overall, I am more than satisfied. The landside is certainly not outstanding, but that was already the case with Paulo Ricardo’s previous sceneries. In my opinion, his airports clearly focus on the cockpit perspective. It is certainly less of an airport for extended drone flights. Everything is modelled in such a way that it looks very realistic and authentic from the cockpit. This has also been done very well in the case of Recife. And, as with SBRJ and SBSP, a big plus point of his add-ons is the modelling of the skyline, which is particularly important in autogen cities. I also like small details such as the modelling of a nearby hill or graffiti on a bridge. Such small things significantly increase the immersion. For 13.50 Euros, you get a lot of airport (and city) for your money, in my opinion.

Incidentally, I purchased version 1.1.1 from the Marketplace, which meant that I was unable to install the native version for MSFS 2024. I hope Asobo resolves the issue with the two Marketplace versions as soon as possible.

Once again, Lukas, you have convinced me…
