Hi i’m m2bfx
New to the sim world but had a go several time on a real simulator, which I loved
Just built a PC to run MSFS last week, i9 11900, Gigabyte Z590 motherboard, Kingston fury 32gb ram, 3tb Samsung m.2 ssd, MSI RTX3080Ti graphics card, 850w gold psu, Gigabyte 360 cooler. so I hope this would work ok with the software.
now I just need to find a good controller to make it move
Hope you can point me in the right direction
Many thanks
I made a small comparison as well. Joystick recommendations - #69 by PHJAAP
The rest of that topic has a lot of usefull information as well.
Hello, All. I’m brand new to flight simulation but was excited by FS2020 so bought myself a gaming laptop, the Honeycomb Alpha yoke, the Honeycomb Bravo quadrant, and the Logitech rudder pedals.
Unfortunately, within a few seconds of every takeoff, my Cessna 152 banks hard and crashes. This happens with no left or right yoke input. I’ve checked the sensitivity settings and don’t see anything obviously wrong. I also disconnected the rudder pedals in case they were somehow interfering, but that didn’t make a difference.
I’d be grateful for any suggestions!
Thanks.

Ive been out of the flight sim loop for a long long time…I think I had one of the first editions way back.
Looking at getting a more realistic experience now that the tech and visuals have caught up.
Hi @INThornberry, and welcome to the forums!
Your issue sounds like it may be worth checking your controller deadzones in the sensitivities settings. Go to the controls settings page in MSFS, then click on the tab for your controller, then click the sensitivities settings button on the left. Try putting the deadzones up a lot, then check if it fixes it. If fixed, gradually reduce the deadzones until it still fixes the problem but you’re happy with how it feels.
Welcome back to flight simming!
Happy flying
Hi all, Returning pilot both sim and RRW. I am now looking for a bit of help o get started again. So 5 years ago I became paraplegic after an illness, long story that I really don’t need to go into here BUT not being able to use my legs does complicate things for rudder, brakes especially differential braking and of course steering! While I want to keep it as “Real” as I can, I know I am going to have to be a little off with the controls. Now the thing is, I do want to be able to taxi out and back, I know or at least I used to know auto rudder was an option and in the more real to life aircraft yaw damper is just a button away, but what about a Cessna landing with a gust side wind? I am investing in a yoke again as my last got “lost” during the move to an adapted bungalow along with my pedals (Both CH Products).
Any ideas, hardware or software settings you can suggest would be gratefully received.
I can’t wait to get back into it and also the new Air Hauler 2 which looks like a huge upgrade to the original!
Thank you in advance for your help
Daniel
Well, thats an impressive rig to start with as a newcommer.
I hope you manage to set it up right (as mentioned before probably the deadzones) and have lots of fun in the virtual skies!
Take care.
Hi Daniel, great to hear you are a returning pilot! Always nice that the passions of flying comes back again.
For hardware, i actually know two options.
- as you mentioned before… autorudder it has its pro’s and cons and i get the idea you figured them out yourself allrady
- A joystick with rudder axis. I use the VKB Gladiator (pro), and its a dream to fly with. At home i had a complete setup with rudder pedals, yoke throttle quadrant. Because of space issues etc. i had to scale down to a laptop and a joystick. Ok… I have to admit it is not as immersive as a complete rig, but it does an exellent job with flying. Because of the rudder axis, crosswind landings are fun to fly and easy to maintain, without loss of control (autorudder mode) and even sideslips are no problems. I made actually even a small comparisson between 3 joysticks (with buildin throttle and rudder axis) Joystick recommendations - Self-Service / Peripherals - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
The nice part is that you can combine it with a seperate throttle quadrant etc, but the flying itself you will just do with your (left or right) hand.
Anyway, if you are looking for more detailed info or presets, dont hesitate to sent me a DM.
Maybe we will see eachother sometime in the skies of MSFS, until than blue skies and a lot of fun!
Hi,
I am new to this forum, and new to MSFS; I had been playing FSX many years ago and I play X-Plane 11 from time to time. The reason why I want to try out MSFS is the graphics, which are amazing. Unfortunately, I can’t dedicate enough time to flying sims.
I am playing on a Windows PC which in terms of CPU and GPU fulfil the min req of MSFS but not more. If MSFS turns out to be really good, I may to upgrade my machine…
Hi, my name is Norman. Thanks for having me onboard
l am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC as a bit of a novice
I’m most interested in learning how to navigate from point A to B.
Also, l have a Thrustmaster Airbus Edition sidestick & throttle. What is the best configuration to fly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Hi Norman,
Welcome to the community!
Ive been simming for 3 months now since my 12yo son persuaded me to sign up for the xbox game pass for PC. He showed me MSFS and I was hooked. We have been confined to our homes in Melbourne, Australia due to the pandemic so it has been a godsend.
For me the best part is the intellectual challenge of learning theory and skills of aviation. I probably spend more time watching instructional videos on YouTube than actually on MSFS.
There is literally so much to learn. Right now I am struggling with using VORs to navigate.
I also like to avoid using GPS and fly like an old school pilot using visual landmarks and dead reckoning.
I think I would like to do a little bit of real flying next year if I can convince my wife to buy me some lessons…
Happy Flying…
Hi, you can call me: Pocoyy
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: PC
I want to try flight simulation because: I love Aviation
I’ve been a simmer for few years on Xplane and VATSIM. Finally got the kick to purchase this simulator. Hopefully MSFS will become the mainstream flight simulator soon.
Hello All,
Newly Minted Simmer. I love the game, and the community seems fantastic and welcoming. Can wait to cross my Division Agent Universe with the Flight Simulation…There has to be a movie role in there somewhere!

Hi, my name is Oliver and i am from Germany.
I had my first simulator experience in the mid-80ies (Spitfire 40 on Amstrad). I also have some flying experience both in real airplanes, helicopters and even military simulators.
I switched to VR in DCS world (with the Huey) ~ 3 years ago and this experience was a real „game-changer“, because for the first time, the flying experience felt real for me. From now on, i realized that all the years i played flight-simulators like i played other computer games.
Most important for me in playing in VR is the gamedesign, and that is the point, where the Filght Simulator 2020 really draw me in its world. I got the Simulation via gamepass in november/december on my PC. This device is about 3-4 years old and i am thankful, that msfs2020 runs really good on it.
I‘m using my old 360 gamecontroller, although i own a whole „collection“ of joysticks, rudders and throttles (from my career as a f-16 falcon 4.0 aviator), because it delivers the best immersion in VR.
In october 2021 i spent a lot of time in msfs2020 and the learning curve remains still steep. i think, after almost 40 years of „gaming“, i found my flight simulation.

Well I’m a 75 yr old ground power tech that will be trying to learn how to fly. Been completing the tutorials, now trying to learn how to navigate the program, working off pc hp omen with ch yoke and pedals, hope some day to be able to communicate and fly with others , live in VT and use claremont NH mun for home base, enjoy flight with 152
