A few months ago, FactualGull and I led an epic 11 stage tour across the Silk Road in MSFS. For our next tour, we’ll be flying the length of the Nile River, starting at Lake Victoria in Uganda and heading all the way North to Alexandria where the Nile Delta empties into the Mediterranean Sea.
Pilots of any skill level are welcome to join us for what promises to be a very scenic flight over some of the most fertile land on the entire planet. During each stage, FactualGull and I will be sharing interesting facts and trivia about the land, people, culture, history, and food & drink of the areas we are flying over.
All flights are on Saturday evenings starting at 8pm ET / 5pm PT / 0000Z and will be livestreamed on my Twitch channel at https://twitch.tv/SeedyL. Multiplayer mode will be enabled on the West USA server, so come fly with us! Each stage is estimated to last approximately three hours of flying time. You can see the itinerary in the table below. Note that on each stage we will be following the flow of the Nile River, not flying directly from A to B as the crow flies.

We’re aiming for a cruising speed of around 150 kts to complete the flight in ~3 hours. I will personally be flying a Cirrus SR22 for the first leg, but any of the faster GA planes should be fine. If you don’t mind circling a bit so you don’t get too far ahead of the group, you can choose a faster plane if that’s your preference. We always have a few people flying a Spitfire or A320 or MB-339 or whatever in all of my group flights.
Stage 2 of the Nile tour is tomorrow (Saturday, May 15) starting at 8pm ET / 5pm PT / 0000Z. As always, pilots of any skill level are invited to fly along with the group on the West USA server starting from Juba (HSSJ). Tonight is Stage 4 of the tour! We’ll be flying from Sudan’s capital city of Khartoum to Merowe, site of the largest hydroelectric plant in Africa. Stage 5 is tonight. We’ll be spending most of the flight in Sudan but crossing the border into Egypt for our landing at Abu Simbel (HEBL), site of a large stone monument carved into the side of a mountain! This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built during the 13th century BCE during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II.
