I have the problem that I cannot see any registration on the external model of my Carenado aircraft C182 RGII and C337 (purchased exclusively from the MSFS2020 Marketplace).
Upon closer inspection, I found a bug in the Carenado installation.
Their panel.cfg file (among other things responsible for displaying the registration) refers to a folder and a file that do not exist in the Carenado installation. This is why the registration is not displayed.
The bug can be resolved with the following workaround. (Implement at your own risk. You should be familiar with editing files. Always make a backup copy from the file before changing!):
In case of the Carenado C182 RGII, the panel.cfg file is located in the folder
…\Official\OneStore\carenado-aircraft-c182rg\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado_C182RG\panel\
Open the panel.cfg file with an editor and change all the following entries you find
from
painting00=CustomRegistration/CustomRegistration.html?
to
painting00=Registration/Registration.html?
(Easily done with Notepad++ → replace)

Hi, Shame we cant do that on XBOX. Having the same issue.
There was an update for the C182 RG II to version 1.0.4 in MSFS2020, but that did not fix the bug!
There was also an update for PA 28R 3 and like you did not fix the issue. Looking at this it’s all their Aircraft
These are 2020 aircraft. Why would it be expected that they’d be updated to 2024 standards (e.g. pointing to 2024 registration code location)?
Nice to post the fix though. But remember, since it’s in the OneStore directory, all changes to files in that directory will get overwritten with each update. It might be better to create a package for the Community directory which supercedes the panel.cfg file (make sure to keep it up to date). In the past, though, though changes to panel.cfg caused issues if you didn’t also have the panel.xml, unless you used the panel.cfg override command in the panel.cfg file (I forget what it is off the top of my head). Something to try anyway.
In any event, make sure to back up your panel.cfg changes as they’ll likely get overwritten by the next update.
I gotta say, I’m a bit confused, aren’t these streamed aircraft? I’m going to have to check out the latest OneStore directory.
To clarify, we are not talking about compatibility in the new MSFS2024. This is about MSFS2020, for which the aircraft was created.
Carenado refers to a file that does not exist in the MSFS2020 Carenado installation folder. That cannot work. Perhaps the folder originally existed and was forgotten after a Carenado update.
In any case, there is too little interest to create a package for the community.

Sorry, I couldn’t tell which sim was being used from your post.
General whine: It’s getting so hard to understand where people are using the DLC. Everyone seems to be assuming we can figure out where the DLC is being used without specifically saying “In 2020” or “in 2024”…
Saying it was purchased in the 2020 marketplace doesn’t define which sim is being used as the Carenado planes are available in both sims, and the Marketplace is the only place where you can purchase their planes (although I think they did release one or two on Simmarket this year?).
I tagged the post only with msfs-2020. This should actually mean that this post is about the msfs-2020. I thought that would be enough.
