No engine power in Discovery flights only

Hello, I have been using the sim since it was launched, and a new issue has cropped up. I lose engine power when entering a Discovery flight. The throttle is responding (I can see it move in the sim), but no engine power. The strange thing is that starting any other flight (for example, from World Map or the Training section) has no problem. This is only when entering a Discovery flight.

I get an engine warning light, and no power. This happens immediately when entering the flight. It acts like the sim is immediately simulating an engine failure.

Anyone have insights on this?

Thank you!

Hi @SpeedyEngineer, welcome to the Microsoft Flight Simulator Forum!

Could you tell us which Discovery Flight(s) you’re having this problem with?

Cheers

Hi. I’ve checked a few, and it was all of them. The few I tried were piston engine. San Francisco and Mount Everest. When I get back from traveling, I’ll try a rotor craft and jet engine.

Thanks,

Karl

I had this problem today doing the Bugalaga landing challenge in the Cessna Caravan. No engine power at the start of the challenge. Did an in flight restart by moving the ignition switch to on and the windmilling prop was able to restart the the engine.

Same problem here, San Francisco and Tokyo (Fuji). Also on some landing challenges (now I don’t remember which of them).

Moderator: could you please remove the Solution flag to this topic?

Thanks. I’ll try the same on the Discovery flights.

I have the same problem with the SF Discovery flight. I found after launching the flight if I pause the flight and chose AI pilot after about 30 seconds the plane will throttle up. I switch off the AI pilot and un pause the plane will act normally.

Good idea!

Add Everest to the list, engines are off

Looks like the same issue as the following, seems to affect all turboprops.

I had the same issue, but I turned on AI Piloting from the drop down menu at the top until the engines were on, and then I turned it off and everything works fine now

Tested with SU14 and no issue with the C208 engine, LUKLA landing challenge.
SpeedyEngineer, if you could test the Discovery flights you had issues with and confirm if fix or not ?
