No voice audio from ATC

Puling the radio button does fix the ATC issue, but if it is affecting other A/C, obviously Aerosoft will patch this.

I do have the JF Arrow. But I had the problem occur with an empty Community folder (where the JF Arrow resides for me), no JF Arrow installed. And I wasn’t flying the JF Arrow when it happened. I was flying the Savage Cub. It seemed pretty clear to me this was a system issue. Something wrong with Azure, maybe an interaction with the 21H1 Win10 update I just installed?

I had to turn on the VHF C and R radios on to get the ATC sound on the 748
all good now

I’m still having an issue. Savage Cub on Unicom for NH38. It’s not that I don’t have voices, it’s that the voices are SUPER SUPER quiet, I have to turn the volume of my sound system way up to barely hear them. I fixed it once, but, now it’s broken again. I did find if I change Sound/Communication Selection to Communication Output, I can hear them louder (still not as loud as normal.

Do you have a system with a Centre channel? I was having the same problem and found it was only operating in stereo and ATC was almost imperceptible.

No, it’s a Focusrite 6i6 Audio Interface connected in stereo, with Windows set up in stereo (edit: I thought) and English Azure voice set intalled (I’m in the US). Spatial Sound is off.

But that does sound like what’s going on.

Edit: I just looked at the driver, and it’s set up as an 8 channel device (which it is). I have never had an issue until the latest update. I wonder if this is it. I can’t find anywhere to force MSFS to output in stereo, nor can I find anywhere in Win10 where it sets up the use of the other channels (usually they are only accessed through my DAW).

The funny thing is, the button sound is clear as a bell, as are all the interface sounds and engine sounds.

You can right click on the volume icon on your windows 10 and it’ll tell you which channel it’s operating at. I always set mine to a 7.1 even thought I have a 5.1 setup. ATC sounds fine because I set all audio device to output to the system default audio.

Thanks, it seems you lead me to the answer. Well, at least my ATC audio is working now.

I had checked to see that my 6i6 was my default device and it always was. What I missed was that somehow my LGTV kept getting set as my default communications device. And when I disabled the device and rebooted, it got reenabled and reassigned. So I turned off the audio input on the TV side, and that seems to have allowed me to keep the nVidia driver side disabled. And now my ATC audio is working again.

Thanks again for leading me to the answer.

I had the same problem with the GTN750
turns out I have to turn up the volume (upper left knob). For whatever reason, the volume is set completely off when I start up new.

Thank you so much! I was scratching my head wondering what had happened (I assumed a corruption in my sim install and thought I was going to have to start again!!!) but pulled up the VHF buttons on the centre console in the CRJ and this has resolved this problem.

At a bit of a loss as to why this affects all aircraft, but hopefully Aerosoft sort it soon-ish.

I’m a little concerned by the lack of testing Aerosoft appear to do when releasing patches - surely this was a fairly obvious glitch for them to discover?

I think I’m right in saying they’ve already had to release two hotfixes for issues that appeared following the patch the other day (one of which stopped all single-axis throttles from working with the aircraft before they fixed it 24 hours later!)

Oh well - thanks again!

Any way to use ATC in TBM wihout removing CRJ?

This is not MSFS, Since 1.0.5.0, the CRJ starts with COM1 turned off
click the knob by your right knee.

You need to turn up the volume knob !

Thanks for the solution, popping up the VHF buttons fixed my problem after a few days wondering what had happened

It’s a cultural thing. Don’t take it personally.

I have a Sound Blaster and windows just upgraded the driver (against my wishes). The driver requires matrix for the center speaker during YouTube but requires matrix off during MSFS - go figure. Shut matrix off and ATC all normal. Thanks for the all above posts cause you got me thinking in the right direction!

This. Adjusting the COM volume fixed it for me. The problem started after installing the CRJ. Thank you for posting the answer

Was wondering what button to push as there are roughly 20-30 buttons in the general vicinity of my right knee. Grin. But you pointed me in the right direction. For others like me who are wondering - for me it was popping out the depressed VHF-1 button on the pilot’s audio control panel (just under the RTU). For some reason Aerosoft has it depressed (off) by default and it’s hard to spot at first.

Also - exiting the CRJ with the button depressed and then flying another aircraft seems to turn that aircraft’s com1 off as well. (My theory - not 100% certain but evidence suggests) Prior to reading this forum and making this discovery I’ve had to restart MSF to get audio working in other aircraft. Now that I know it’s a volume/on/off setting it’s a matter of finding the right knob in the relevant aircraft to adjust. For example after flying the CRJ and getting into the 172 Skyhawk you need to turn up the volume on com 1 (right next to where the active/standby frequencies are displayed)
I do hope Aerosoft addresses this. It’s one thing to set parameters on the CRJ but I think it’s not good to affect other aircraft.

I have to admit that there was one flight, about a month ago, I loaded and there was no sound coming from the ATC side of the simulator. It only happened once and hasn’t happened again. BTW, the sound from the pilot/co-pilot side of the simulator was working during this ATC sound outage. Just an FYI.
