Are you serious? Why is it that in 2021 you force people to redownload a 100gb game every time they get a corrupted file because of your update process or for whatever reason? This just happened to me after a month of not being able to play the game because one of your updates made it open the MS Store page of Gaming Services, then nothing. Steam has had a file integrity check built into it for ages now. You can’t, or won’t?
This is the last product you ever get my money for. Glad I stuck with the standard one, at least.
Sadly this is the truth but in this case it’s not Steams fault. The local file integrity check works just fine with pretty much everything else in my Steam library, however I did get bitten by the MS screw up when I tried it with MSFS2020
I have the MS Store version. I was just saying Steam has had a file integrity check from the start, Microsoft doesn’t even think of one today. The only options remains to uninstall and reinstall the whole friggin 120gb game for a corrupted plane. Yay!
Yeah, but even in the Steam version using the integrity check would actually cause the MSFS installation to be reset, and we had to reinstall the entire 120 GB of game files all over again. So whether you’re in Steam or MS Store version, you’ll end up redownloading all those files all over again regardless.
Your file was not corrupted, this is what you get if you make a change in the model.cfg, located in the official/onestore/asobo-aircraft-(egt c172sp-classic)/simobjects/airplanes/(asobo_c172_classic)/model
You turned off show internal view and ; out external.xml, or ; out internal.xml or both it would not show one or rhe other or both ; of the xml files out show no plane at all.
i have had various rusults in reinstalling from scratch.
1st time was after u5 and the 2 hotfixes, i had the CTD after 4 or 5 of them i did a clean install ( deleting all files *) this fixed the CTD’S)
2nd time was after the flickering of screen and popping scenery, but i had to play with grafix setting to improve ( high end default from ultra) helped but not perfect.
3rd 4th time was for autopilot this worked and did work for a phew days but into 3rd flight it stopped working again yesterday.
each time i did a redownload i deleted all files first. with other simmers have completely differing problems on similar setups and also taking a very long time to download has left me to believe corrupt or missing code on downloads.
but if problems are fixed then reappears has left me to believe it is the server speed or info corrupt.
i wonder if anyone ells has tried a similar approach as me.
I’m agree, there are more and more updates (installed automatically without advise and permission… What about to question if I want update now? For if you want make any previous verification… Or simply because it works well for me and I don’t want update) and the possibilities for corrumption files increses each time more.
