I just bought Chicago Landmarks esp. i liked the light effects at night shown in their screenshots. So i was really curious to see it while flyin over Chicago downlown. But i see only some red and white light and the whole scenery is unnatural dark. Since i use high and ultra grafical effects i dont know why the result differ so extremly from their screenshots.
Is there a solution or is the result just as poor as i just have seen it? If its that bad i will just refund the dlc. But i hope there is a solution for it.
Can you show a screenshot of what you see? I don’t remember ever seeing anything like this.
What is your altitude and what is your Terrain LOD set to?
How sure are you that your Monitor is correctly calibrated ?
Could be a lot of things that are causing your particular displeasure.
Not seeing anyone else bringing this to the community’s attention…
Altitude is around below 1000feet. If Terrain LOD is Terrain Level of Detail its 90.
No MOON … turn your room light off, and let your eyes adapt to Night Vision ?
I run 200 and have the same scenery and it looks great. If I crank it up to 400, it looks amazing!
I know it will hurt your performance, but just for a test, turn up your LOD and see if it improves.
I raised Terrain LOD from 90 to 250 but i dont see any changes to the better.
And the change to 250 did not cause any trouble. But it did not changed the effect at all.
Never heard that before and tbh i am not sure if that could the problem since i run several other games on this monitor without problems like this. How do i calibrate it? Via GPU Software? I use a RTX 2070S with newest driver and sw.
its not a problem of my night vision. The buildings just lack the light effects as seen in their screenshots.
It doesn’t look like you have the scenery loaded. That looks like the default photogrammetry scenery.
But the MSFS said it has been downloaded. I bought it ingame and meanwhile i started it again to check. How can i verify if it has been installed or not?
Did you install it through the Content Manager?
Look in for it in your OneStore folder. If you go to your community folder, back up on level and you will see OneStore. Also, try restarting the sim. If it isn’t there, you’ll need to install it via Content Manager. You may have bought it, but not downloaded it.
OMG you are probably right. I looked into Content Manager and it said “Not Installed”. I feel so … ashamed (Face turn completely red!). Usually it happened in background and afai remember it said it has been downloaded.
UPDATE: Problem is unfortunately not solved, even after installing it i have no light effects.
Easy to do. Plus, the photogrammetry in Chicago is so good, it is easy to not realize the add-on isn’t installed.
BTW I have another question according to Content Manager. There is a lot of conted listed as “Not Installed” but i cannot choose and install it. e.g. “Keflavik Rework”
Hi,
Sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with Chicago Landmarks. I have that product, I got my copy through OrbX though, and it definitely doesn’t look like that at night.
It’s very colourful, and all the buildings stand out very nicely to me. I love the add on in daylight and nighttime. I use TLOD and OLOD at 100 for both. I also fly in VR.
It sounds like it’s not loading correctly, I wonder why. Have you restarted your sim; are you running sim update 10 beta? (not that either of those should cause an issue).
Cheers,
Hm now that it has been installed i still have no light effects.
