That’s how it should be, but that strategy does not bring in as much cash
Dang, there goes my plan to start a revolution here! Good to know, they would have probably exiled me to Switzerland ![]()
At least they officially have recognised they messed up night lighting. It’s a bit frustrating that you have to troll through different social media platforms to get official feedback on issues. Temporary workarounds don’t help us XBox users though. An occasional official apology would be welcome too.
Hmm, all that, save maybe certain aspects of the weather (depends on how realistic you expect it to be) is totally possible already now. I don’t get at all the blurriness above few thousand feet? Do you mean the issues we’ve had with Bing data streaming lately? Because other than that the terrain is mighty sharp always when I fly.
Fun thing for them is, that with the introduction of MSFS on the Xbox (and therefor compromising quality on the PC platform which caused a lot of complaints from the PC members), they also introduced another group of MSFS players, who argue about the quality of the program after each update ![]()
I don’t know why both platforms have the same versions tbh. You’d think they could have PC version with PC updates and XBox version with XBox updates. With some common shared data somewhere inbetween. There hasn’t I don’t think been a specific XBox bug (Hotas, CTDs, black screens) fixed yet, but we’ve just absorbed a PC bug fix for high end users that rendered night flying useless but only has a PC only workaround. In my opinion the XBox version should be 1.0.0 not the same as the PC version. Maybe at some internal level it is but we don’t see it at the end user level. Can’t wait to see what happens when they launch it on XBox One or mobile ![]()
This is what I’ve been saying. Many games have this model.
For some reason, in this instance, the updates seem to counteract each other in many places.
The issues PC players were facing before WU6 are now being experienced by Xbox (draw distance and pop in)
Yes it’s not healthy having updates being done around PC users who scream loudest or indeed XBox users who scream loudest. There needs to be specific plans and software controls that optimises for each platform and not at the expense of each other.
Completely agree there. For me, visually at least, it was far better on xbox pre update.
With that been said, it would have been nice if this precache slider could have been pushed in a separate update to PC only.
It looks like it needed changes in a core component which is shared across platforms to allow this. Xbox will have a “default” and only the pc component is able to override it.
It’s common practice to do so. Outcome should have been handled better though.
I disagree. xbox series x.
- CTD appeared when the button “fly” was pressed. 1 time out of 5 for sure.
- The picture has become less smooth. Very striking. It is impossible not to notice.
- The draw distance has decreased significantly. Especially seen in New York.
- Broken night lighting.
- Sound stuttering appeared.
For me, only the dispatcher’s elevation reminders are fixed. This has indeed been corrected. I have.
You are right it was good on launch. I’m happy with how it looks today (well daytime only right now!), but my biggest fear is they start dialing it back/degrading things visually to stop the CTD’s. I mean there will probably never be graphical sliders for us, just a take it or leave it approach. Maybe they need a ‘long flight’ mode where data/graphical usage is minimised to stop the CTD’s. I don’t do long flights myself so it isn’t a huge priority for me, but I can see why it frustrates others.
I also get peeved at the perception of some PC users who look down their noses at XBox users/environment. Perhaps it’s snobbery/entitlement. There are a good few of us here who are simmers (not gamers) to varying degrees & did the whole PC / MS Flightsim thing years ago and were fed up with the constant top end PC/graphics card/driver issues and just wanted a nice stable proprietry platform that sat tidily away behind their tv. Not what we got (so far) unfortunately, but it is still early days admittedly.
I hope that is not what they have done to reduce CTD. Makes VFR flying very painful as a result
Not saying their have, but it is a fear I have moving forward. I’m not sure we have seen any attempted fixes yet for XBox CTD’s, which leads me to another gripe and that is surely we need a better communication system for what has changed between releases and why. ie. a detailed changelog, not just a glossy brochure (new features) version. If one already exists I apologise but I have yet to see it.
For example even locally, I saw that the latest update to a premium package had an update to a plane eg 787, 747 etc. You go click on ‘i’ next to it for information and you can find no refs to what has changed or why. No historical version revision details.
No issues here for me. The only problem is the night glitch. However, ATC is fixed for me, so is live weather and certain performance issues.
Y’all complain too much lol.
NO contrails on AI
Still with airplane customization no vissible number or callsign
Etc
Etc
Etc
I run MSFS on PC but also use a console for plenty of gaming. I can understand the reason many other simmers chose the Xbox so I certainly do not look down my nose at any xbox user. Anger at xbox players by any pc player is like aiming at a friendly target through your gunsight. The problem I feel is that MS want MSFS to be a onesize fits all solution for both console and PC.
Frames freeze when taking off and landing making it impossible to fly. Never had this problem before the su6 and now after more then 1000 hours of flying in the sym, I cant even get a plane off the ground. When is the hotfix???
The Germany update is creepy, I now have randomly isolated lamps on motorways, 4 lamps hang so easily in the air at many motorway junctions so high that you could fly underneath them in bright white. You can see the same thing in the cities here, too, there are always a few of these bright, high-hanging lamps. The traffic moves in places also almost at a height of 20m. The terrain data is still not correct, small streams can be seen as such, but the edges are flooded far outwards by the reflective water. At the Rhine you could see the bank and the stone barriers in the past. Today it is flood. It just keeps getting creepier with every attempt to improve something.
yes. Perhaps like trying to fit windows 10 onto a pc, tablet, phone, watch etc.
They have already said they want FS to be platform independent when asked about when XBox One release was. I think a phone was mentioned too. It may have been one of those developer talks from 3 months ago. Yes, I agree we are all on same side and want the same thing ultimately. My own take is I can understand why PC is so hard to stabilise graphically intensive complex software around, you have so many permutations of hardware all with their own levels of driver support and windows (and it’s constant updates) on top. My expectation as a XBox user/simmer is to have an extremely stable experience with rock solidly known propietry hardware.
