Brief description of the issue:

Since the Dune update (but without installing the add-on) I keep getting a notification that an update is available, and to go to content manager. But when it takes me to the content manager, the ‘update available’ count is 0.
I ignored this the first few times, thinking it may have been a temporary glitch in some boolean value. Then a couple of days ago new updates WERE available (including one for the Mitsubishi MU2). Once I installed the updates from the content manager, I figured this should clear the false ‘update available’ notification.
But the notification still appears every time I start FS2020, and the content manager still shows 0 updates available, as per the screenshots.

Hi CaphollandX,
Although this addresses a slightly different problem try this fix from the Zendesk.
The only difference I’d suggest is that you rename the existing Content.xml file to Content.xml.backup, rather than delete it.
If the fix does not work, delete the newly-created content.xml file & rename Content.xm.backup back to Content.xml

Hi @CaphollandX,
I moved your topic to the User Support Hub User Interface & Activities that is more appropriate to receive support from the community.

I have found 2 similar reports. Maybe the 2nd one can help:

Hi @SmotheryVase665 . Thank you for the tip above. Unfortunately, when I go to the folder mentioned in the Zendesk ticket, I don’t see any ‘content.xml’ file to delete, so that solution won’t help.

@DementedCorn327 , thank you for the related tickets. Honestly, I did attempt several searches for my issue, with no results. I salute your searching skiils!

No problem. I find the location of all the various MSFS folders hopelessly confusing. It takes a while to learn where they all are (and then I tend to forget when I do eventually find them!). On my system I have two “AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe” folder locations!

Did you install MSFS on a different drive? For example, I installed on my D: drive.

The location of your screenshot is here, I think:
C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

But if you installed MSFS on a different drive, you’ll find the folder under here, based on my experience on my PC.
D:\WpSystem<Some-super-long-Alpha-Numeric-folder-name>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe

If you can’t find it, search your folders for “WpSystem” & see if that directs you to the right place.
Hope this helps!

@SmotheryVase665 , I do have it installed on my D: drive, so I looked and found the ‘WpSystem’ folder, but that’s giving me the same view under ‘LocalCache’ as my C: drive path, with no ‘content.xml’ file (and yes, I have ‘show hidden files and folders’ set to true):

In the meantime, the 2nd thread mentioned by @DementedCorn327 contained a tip about looking for ‘partially installed’ add-ons, which I found and deleted, and that appears to have solved the problem for now.
