NOW RELEASED - Shorts Sd3-30 / Sd3-60 and Sherpa project from Blackbox

Or a Metroliner or Beech 1900…I love Blackbox for including different variants with their models plus making cargo versions as well, and I think those two would make perfect platforms for that!

Sorry but this is HIGHLY Unlikeley to happen …
The Vast Majority of Shorts SD3 aircraft Even had Autopilot never mind Modern Day GPS Systems
We only decided to add these in as Options to make them more “Sim viable” But when it comes to adding GNS750 that were Never fitted or offered as factory options Im afraid we will dig heels in there …
Sorry … and I hope you understand

No worries… I “solved” the problem, with the popout mod, and GPS hardware…

Same here, going to also look at the various mods to get at least a 650 in the plane.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having issues getting the vertical navigation on the GPS to work correctly?

I have a flightplan setup, and I am in the cruise and when I go to the vertical navigation section in the GPS all I get are the options to set target altitude and VS profile.

I can’t cycle through the waypoints and select one, so this means I can’t obtain my VSR.

There is no VNAV available with the 400 … it is there as a Guide only

@NightMercury358 I don’t think I explained myself properly, sorry.

I can’t seem to get the waypoint after ‘BEFORE’ to show - Where you can cycle through the waypoints from your programmed flightplan.

It worked on the first flight, and never again.

The area in the screenshot above in the red circle.

I bought the premium pack earlier, and have had a few flights with it. I’m really enjoying it so far. I don’t have all the switches configured yet in SPAD, but I’m getting there. Had a few issues with some where I have the correct LVAR’s configured, but they don’t seem to animate the cockpit switches correctly.

I played around with the autopilot, and that seems to work nicely though for some reason altitude capture didn’t work, but VS, and then switching to ALT manually worked.

I also tried out some radio navigation, and found that the CDI did indeed deflect on my way from LOWI down to LIME. I used the VORDME BRL, and it worked as expected, with the CDI bar deflecting as I adjusted the course.

I also noticed one of the hydraulic switches, the right one, to the left of the pilot didn’t animate, though the indicator itself seemed to show it was being cut off, then back on again.

This was the C23B, by the way.

What did the planes you had access to during development have installed, GPS wise? The 430 wouldn’t have been too much of stretch, I wouldn’t have thought, and not look out of place.

I’m a member at the Ulster Aviation Society and there’s definitely no AP or GPS in G-BDBS. The fact is that in regular operation when they were regularly flown, there was no AP or GPS. Obviously where most are operated now, these have been grafted on in various guises, but theres no standard.

Never having owned my own plane, is it fair to say that if you can afford it you can fit it, assuming its certified?

Well I respect your decision but I don’t understand.
The Shorts is still in operation today, Air Cargo Carriers has about 20+ 360s fliying and it would be awesome to fly them as they are today. If they retrofitted a GTN750 then it would be great to have one.

I have nothing against vintage simulation but I don’t understand the bias against modern simulation. So that is why I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to let us simulate how the plane flies today in the present time.

Hopefully you will reconsider at some point, the work to be done is not that much, many devs provide different avionics settings for different epochs.

I don’t think you necessarily need to understand the reasoning if you respect their decision.

I’m really amazed that no matter what a developer does, there’s always someone who’s not happy about something or other… Not every aircraft needs a top of the range, $20,000 GPS system or a cutting edge autopilot installed! Just fly it and enjoy it!

I’m very sorry. I really didn’t want to sound like the user that is never happy with an add-on.

I just like to simulate real world flights it is what drives my passion for flight simming I hope there is nothing wrong with that.

So I enjoy anything that might help me simulate the planes as they flight today and if a dev wants to only release a vintage version of the plane it is sad but I can live with that.

If the LVAR only triggers the system behind the switch, you need to trigger the BVAR that will make the switch move instead to trigger that system. AxisAndOhs supports BVARs directly and can be scripted.

That’s true, though I don’t know for sure if that’s rather case here. I think the ones I got stuck on were the fuel pumps, the generators, and the starters. Everything else seems to work okay.

I got - using SPAD - the fuel pumps, generators, inverts working… switch animation and all… just with LVARS and/or SimEvents… cannot get the starters, nor ignitions figured out…

…a nice segue for a generic gripe … (developers at large)…

It wouldn’t take much effort, to keep cockpit builders in mind, when modeling these systems/switches… and documenting it … :grinning:

  • You have to arm ALT SEL on this one and check that it remains armed if you change vertical modes. In that regard, this Collins AP is more realistic than the BKSQ B350’s, for example.

  • I have noted that as well. The R HYD INLET switch animation remains broken in the 360 Cargo and derivatives (based on the cockpit, the C-23B depicted is actually a C-23B+, a Frankenstein SD3-60 that had the aft body cut off and replaced with the tail and cargo ramp from a Sherpa in order to fulfill C-23 orders that remained after Bombardier bought Shorts and ended SD3-30/3-60 production).

Anyone had any luck on getting ADF audio to come through? I had no problem tracking two different NDB’s, but I couldn’t get their tones to come through.

NAV audio works though, clearly discernible morse code coming through. ADF was set to tone, and ADF1/2 enabled on the comms panel.
