May not be 100% necessary but I always use DDU in safe mode to uninstall the previous driver beforehand. Just downloading this new driver now so I’ll edit this post and report back later.
Edit; All seems to be working fine with my i913900k/rtx4090 with PCVR. Can’t notice any differences/improvements compared to 551.52 though.
Happy to report I see no performance degradation with this latest Nvidia driver. Also happy to see Nvidia Filters are working properly again (they actually save your presets this time)

Is this better for you than 537.58?
I am not sure. First time seems this is better, but NYC and complex areas I feel 537.58 is better… Mixed feellings.
I installed the 551.52 and maybe it’s just a placebo, but it was a bit smoother. They mentioned in the release note that this driver improves microstutters here and there.
Haven’t checked the 551.61 though. Looks it’s more like a patch for 551.52
If this is fixed then it’s worth the update for this alone.
EDIT: It is!
ps. what are all you people who strip back the drivers going to do when GE Force Experience merges with NVCP - as per what they are showing in their combined NVidia App beta which you can try out now. Seems like NVCP will be no more?
Ya, I did find 551.52 ran a bit smoother. So far I can’t see any differences or improvements with 551.61. Immediately after updating this driver I got a msfs update so this may have had an effect as well. Who knows?
I have installed the new Nvidia beta app, I would be interested to know what settings you have made in terms of HDR. I have switched off HDR in-game and am currently experimenting with the HDR settings in the new app.
I’m using an HDR monitor “Alienware AW3821DW”
Above all, everything is no longer just white when you look out of the window. The completely exaggerated eye adjustment or overexposure is extremely reduced and could not be adjusted at all before because Asobo simply built exaggerated brightness values into their HDR that could not be adjusted to their own monitor specifications. And Windows 11 Auto-HDR has also been abolished. So I like it very much. I just had to lower the saturation a bit so everything isn’t so colorful.
I would be happy if there are already a few users who can post their settings for HDR in the new App.
Interesting so NVCP will likely go away, but not yet.
The NVidia app does sound nice. I use colour correction filters so I may give it a go at some point amd see what I think. The guy in that video seems impressed with it too.
Yep,
I got the infamous error “Your graphic device has encountered a problem…”. This also occurred when I used DX11. After I removed the app MSFS ran like clockwork again. I’ll try the app on a later date when more of these bugs are corrected.
I’m having issues. Looks ok for a few minutes and then started to see a ton of screen tearing and stutters. I’ve got a 4070 Super and running frame gen. Although I tried several combos of adjustments to see if it would get better or worse, and every time the screen tearing returned a few minutes after starting a flight. I reverted back to the previous driver.
