Fixed Gaming Bugs
[Forza Horizon 5/God of War: Ragnarok] Game may crash during gameplay after updating to R565 release drivers [4895068]
I always update the drivers when a new one is released and, to date, never had any problems. But as I don’t “game” unless there is an update that specifically includes MSFS should I bother?
I updated today and noticed nothing quanky after install. I am getting the live traffic thingy popping up at times, but nothing else. Here’s a phone screenshot of my overlay sitting at JFK in the DC3 today with live weather and realtime traffic. Sim was smooth minus the popup. Screenshots won’t save the overlay. Don’t know why. High and Ultra settings, no FG, locked at 60.
Terrylawdinn I’ve always updated and never had a issue having to roll back. Lucky I guess. I check/update Library, Windows, Drivers, Restart PC after, Disable virus protection, then open MSFS2024 and somehow it functions ok in both sims. Good habit or bad? Don’t know, but things work pretty good with this habit since 2020 was introduced. I only use the sims on PC,no other gaming.
What do these optimal settings even mean? It sets you FS24 graphics according to the max the user’s GPU can handle? Seems a bit arbitrary since they don’t know what the user’s preferences are or what fps they are aiming for at what resolution etc. Or does it mean something else?
Updated the Nvidia app and the driver for my 4070 Ti Super, still can’t add FS2024 to the “Library” of the app, even when I point it to the folder where I have the sim installed.
On the other hand, performance in both FS2024 and FS2020 seems fine, same as prior versions. No issues on my machine after short low-altitude VFR test flights over dense scenery (KAVX - LKAX in the Beech 18).
I had this problem too and I was able to fix it in the following way.
I completely uninstalled the app. After restarting the computer, I installed the app again using the installer from the Nvidia website. Once this was done, the app recognized the game without any problems.
I also updated the Nvidia driver to the latest version.
After a one-hour test flight, I didn’t notice any difference compared to the previous one. The performance was similar and I had no stability issues, CTDs, etc.
“Optimal” usually means the “sweet spot” of best performance and best quality. Of course, your “optimal” is probably much different than my “optimal”. If you aren’t satisfied with NVIDIA’s recommendation, it provides a slider to give better performance or improve quality. And if you don’t like how it looks after tuning and tweaking, it is possible to “revert” to the previous settings to try again. This is helpful when one has six different graphical apps that all need optimization.
Also, it has an optional GPU performance tuner to analyze, tune, and tweak optimal overclock and voltage settings for maximum GPU performance.
566.36 specifically designed for MSFS 2024, among other games, has been an excellent improvement on my NVIDIA 4090. Please be careful when blaming an Nvidia driver for CTD’s or other issues experienced with bug ridden MSFS 2024
Upon initial installation and configuration of Microsoft Flight Simulator 24, the software recommended ultra settings based on my hardware specifications (NVIDIA 4090, AMD 7950X3D, and 64GB RAM). Considering the potential benefits of uninstalling the NVIDIA application, reinstalling it, and optimizing the settings, I would like to gauge the collective experience of the community regarding any observed improvements.
Sorry, I haven’t used the post 566 drivers that come with the new nvidia app or geoforce experience yet. I thought that the recommended settings with the new nvidia app only applies to the nvidia settings, not the actual game settings. Maybe I’ve got that wrong? For now, I’m happy with 560.94 and the nvidia control panel using global and game specific settings.
Have you seen what it does to the graphics settings in msfs 2024 dropped dlss quality to performance ans also lowered some other settings. I thought at first it was an amazing driver but no better than my previous driver when I changed all the settings back to were they were. Before the driver and APP update.
The driver increased my frame rates and I found it superior to 566.14. The Nvidia settings always set my graphics to performance, but I then go in an change it to quality. Almost all the other graphics were set to Ultra. I usually try what they recommend, and then adjust what I might not prefer.
The only issue with Ultra on airport traffic and air traffic is it might lead to reaching the sim object limit, which will then have invisible items like the tow/pushback or even some airports on landing. That’s a known problem, so as soon as I see that I just drop the air traffic and airport traffic down to high to correct it.
On the other hand the driver can’t fix all those MSFS 2024 problems we are waiting for updates for……This driver was specifically noted for DLSS in MSFS 2024…but that depends on your card and computer.
I should also note I am running in VR mode with a Pimax Crystal.
