Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 572.70 Discussion Thread

I went back to 572.42.
Had stutters, a couple of blue screens and even P3D crashing for no reason with 572.6x.
GPU runs alot cooler also.

Nvidia app installed?

No not installed.

Better check your BIOS settings. I had the above happen to me once on a machine, and it resetted back to BIOS defaults too. Lovely things we do for flight sim eh.

Thank you for info mate.

In a moment, I’ll start installing the new G.Skill RAM
F5-6000J2636G32GX2-TZ5NR

Once it’s installed, I’ll begin testing Nvidia driver on MSFS 2020 - since 2024 isn’t suitable for testing just yet.

BTW
Thank God - RAM I bought is A-die, so it should allow for tighter timings.

Out of interest, are there detailed reviews of how RAM speed affects FPS?

The affect will be game dependent, but useful to know when upgrading.

Just curious but how can you install am nvidia driver incorrectly?

You can update via the nvidia app, so bit confused how that would be incorrect.

Thanks

It is not recommended to install Nvidia drivers or update them via tools like the Nvidia app or Windows Update.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to uninstall and reinstall the NVIDIA driver.

Uninstall Nvidia driver using the DDU program in Windows Safe Mode.

1 Download Nvidia driver
2 Download and install DDU
3 Unistall Nvidia driver using DDU in Windows Safe Mode.
How to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) Guide / Tutorial | Wagnardsoft

4 Restart PC
5 Install Nvidia driver without Nvidia HD Audio and Nvidia app.
6 Restart PC
7 Test NVIDIA driver for two to three days and if everything is working fine, you can download and install the NVIDIA app if you need it, for example, to record gameplay.

After conducting several tests with Nvidia driver 572.70, I haven’t noticed any issues with MSFS. I did not install Nvidia app and Nvidia Audio drivers.

Ok thank you, would you suggest not having nvidia app installed?

I’m also having issues with these latest nvidia drivers where it keeps going to a permanent black screen during installation, but a hard reboot solves it and driver is installed successfully, seems to be a lot of people reporting this.

It depends – I personally don’t need it.
It’s worth mentioning that, for example, if you’re playing MSFS 2020 with DX11, having Nvidia app installed might cause a CTD during the loading of MSFS.
In that case, you should change from DX11 to DX12 in Nvidia app and profile for MSFS.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, I experienced what I believe were graphical glitches across both my monitors while just on the desktop. It was a band of small rectangles sprinkled across the top third of the screens.

I ran a graphics benchmark which appeared to be fine, but the glitches were back on my desktop when I finished.

I was running 572.60. I upgraded to 572.70 immediately but I haven’t had time to test it out.

This is on a founders edition RTX 3090.

No idea, I presume I’m on dx12, only built my pc in January, so presume I’m on latest version.

I figured I’d post the screenshot of what I saw when I was on 572.60. I’m back on the computer with 572.70 and we’ll see if anything pops up like this.

Not recommended… By who?
And regarding DDU

  • DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling/installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
  • DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing

So saying your way is the recommended way is a bit misleading.

I noticed that you have an overlay displaying FPS, GPU usage and CPU. Please try testing without the overlay and see if it makes a difference.

Not recommended… by millions of dinosaurs who have been through it all when it comes to installing and uninstalling drivers - as well as dealing with the headaches caused by improper installation and uninstallation.

Q: What is DDU?

A: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a driver removal tool that can help you completely remove AMD (ATI), NVIDIA and Intel graphics drivers, Realtek audio driver from your system, without leaving leftovers behind (such as registry keys, folders, files, driver store).

Over time these leftover files can cause compatibility issues, such as drivers failing to install, reducing performance or system crashes/freezes. By using DDU you can remove these leftovers and solve many common issues related with GPU drivers.

Let’s stay on topic - this discussion isn’t about DDU, so there’s no need to reply.

Exactly. And there is absolutely no need to use DDU to install Nvidia drivers. I used it once some years ago and never needed it since. It’s only needed if we have a problem. Tenpatrol likes to say his way is the way, but that’s not exactly true.
The Nvidia app is also what is recommended now by Nvidia to install the drivers, but Tenpatrol doesn’t agree. Go figure.

Can’t remember 100%, but pretty sure it was there with it off as well. I had turned it on when I opened Superposition to stress the GPU to see if it would manifest under high load, and didn’t turn it off after exiting.

I’s sure you and everyone else read the issues I had installing this driver at the top of this thread and therefore reverted back to 566.14. I did DDU when I reverted back because after I reset my PC, 570.70 was still showing in device manager and I wanted to get rid of it.

I decided to give it another go after thinking what could have gone wrong the first time I tried.

This time I turned OC off, and installed the driver with Express Installation using the Nvidia app. I didn’t use DDU. I went straight for it.

The installation was flawless. I restarted and even shut down my computer to make sure it would boot into windows after a successful installation of the driver.

The first time I fired up FS24, the cpu usage was high but this happens every time I install a different driver. Starting FS24 the second time everything is back to normal.

I haven’t checked performance or anything else, but of course if I find anything odd, I will report back here.

A new Nvidia driver is available for download.
