This new driver looks mainly aimed at rtx5000 series gpu’s. I haven’t seen any reasons to update mine since 572.16. With dlss4 enabled and dlss/balanced everything looks soooo good for me with 2020 (2024 still uninstalled) right now in VR with my QPro/rtx4090/Link.
I’m really glad to hear that MSFS is working well for you with an older Nvidia driver version. I’ve been saying for a long time that the newest isn’t always the best
You don’t mention which version of Flight Simulator you’re running. I presume 2024 but would appreciate knowing for sure. Also, which version of AM is giving you trouble 5 or 4.2?
The new driver works great for me. I went as far as cleared my DXCache, GLCache, and ComputeCache to have a fresh start. Flying smoother in my opinion.
I installed yesterday. I haven’t tried with FS2020 yet, but it works great in FS2024 so far. I did an express install this time. After this series of drivers matures more, I will DDU.
Amen to that. Big improvement in MSFS 2024 as well. With all previous 572 branch drivers I was seeing extremely high CPU usage in 2024, but not in 2020. I’m now seeing normal CPU usage in both sims with this driver. Nevertheless, I’m hanging to my download of 566.36 just in case I start to see stutters again with this driver.
EDIT: Welp, spoke too soon on that one. 10 minutes into a free flight, CPU usage starting spiking again with MSFS 2024 and this driver. Back to 566.36 it is.
Sounds like you are forcing files into the driver package that are not part of the nVidia download. Always a bad idea to mix and match. The driver package download includes the files it needs. No more, no less. Any user modified version of the package will lead to unpredictable results.
Right. I was experimenting with DLSS4 and didn’t like it on account of all the artifacts. DLSS4 is coming soon enough with the SU2 release and hopefully it will be better than manually adding it.
With the latest drivers and the Nvidia app, DLSS4 settings are available for FS2020 and presets can be set in the Nvidia app. No need to use DLSS swapper or anything else. But I wasn’t impressed with that either.
Ok, you talked me into it, lol! Not a noticeable improvement over 572.16 imho but still nice and stable. I found out I no longer need the new nvidia app, just nvidia profile inspector to enable dlss4. No need to use the swapper or any other mods and sods that some YouTubers think we all need to do, lol!
What’s worked best for me is to use DDU to fully uninstall previous drivers, then custom/clean install the current driver (without nvidia app), then use nvidia control panel to setup my usual global and app specific 3D settings, then use nvidia profile inspector (latest final version) to set the global dlss settings as per the following link;
QPro/i913900k/rtx4090/32Gb 6400ram using Link at 900mbps max dynamic bitrate (h.264).
I installed the 572.83 today, and now MSFS 2024 won’t start.
It started normal by downloading the last updates on Brasil etc, and when it started installing, the blue progress line came half way across the screen, then it went very slowly, sound disappered, and after 20 sec MSFS crashes and disappears. I have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, with a NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. Has anybody else experienced this?
