Ok, you talked me into it, lol! Not a noticeable improvement over 572.16 imho but still nice and stable. I found out I no longer need the new nvidia app, just nvidia profile inspector to enable dlss4. No need to use the swapper or any other mods and sods that some YouTubers think we all need to do, lol!
What’s worked best for me is to use DDU to fully uninstall previous drivers, then custom/clean install the current driver (without nvidia app), then use nvidia control panel to setup my usual global and app specific 3D settings, then use nvidia profile inspector (latest final version) to set the global dlss settings as per the following link;
QPro/i913900k/rtx4090/32Gb 6400ram using Link at 900mbps max dynamic bitrate (h.264).
I installed the 572.83 today, and now MSFS 2024 won’t start.
It started normal by downloading the last updates on Brasil etc, and when it started installing, the blue progress line came half way across the screen, then it went very slowly, sound disappered, and after 20 sec MSFS crashes and disappears. I have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, with a NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. Has anybody else experienced this?
Why are the DLSS *.dll files version 2.7.0 in the MSFS2020 directory and not changed by the DLSS 4.0 Nvidia driver after installation.
I had to change the DLSS 4.0 *.dll files manual.
I did a quick search and discovered the games rendering pipeline needs to be configured to work properly with DLSS4 or any DLSS version.
This was brought up in the latest dev stream and Martial sort of chuckled. Now I know why. He knows we have done the DLSS4 tweaks and knows the game needs to be configured for DLSS4 to work properly.
We are supposed the get DLSS4 when SU2 is released. No idea if it will be released in the first beta build.
This is because msfs has not fully incorporated dlss4 yet. However, if you go through the process to enable dlss latest version/latest preset (K), it doesn’t matter what version the dlss files are in your msfs directory.
Again, you don’t have to do it yourself for FS2020. There are presets in the Nvidia app that do the same thing. I have done it manually and using the Nvidia app and didn’t notice any difference.
Click on graphics, select FS2020 then scroll down and change these settings.
I tried 572.83 for a couple of days but ended up rolling back to 572.16. I still found that driver a bit smoother in VR/dx12 with my QPro/i913900k/rtx4090/Link cable with msfs2020 (20204 still uninstalled right now). I also found that 572.16 gave me better/smoother performance with many of my Steam/SteamVR apps.
Thanks to DDU it’s very easy to roll back drivers. Then do a clean/custom install without the nvidia app. There’s no need for the nvidia app. In fact, when I recently tried using the nvidia app it tried to optimize all my games and while I could choose Revert, it still mucked up a lot of my msfs2020 graphics settings (PC and VR), and I needed to manually change these back later.
I just use nvidia control panel to set global 3d settings and a few game profiles I like. I then just use the latest nvidia profile inspector global to select and turn on dlss over rides and presets, both to latest (preset K for msfs2020). There’s 3x set of these to adjust in the common area. I’ve already linked this earlier, but I’ll include this again. Just go to the second post in this thread;
My late granny was a wise woman.
She taught me that ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’
FFWD to 2025: As long as the changelogs of renewed drivers remain silent regarding MSFS, I skip the gamble.
