No issues. KSAN to KPHX in Fenix A321 with MSFS 2024 SU3B. Clean install driver, restarted, cleaned DLCACHE and Direct X 12 shaders with windows cleaner.

No issues here.

I’m still getting very good results in VR (non-beta msfs2020/2024) with 580.88 so I think I’ll stick with that for now. Esp. since I don’t see anything applicable to msfs2020/2024. Cheers.

Guess it’s too much to hope they fixed the DEVICE_HUNG issue already? Especially since there’s no mention of any such fix.

I uninstalled the old NVIDIA driver using DDU in Windows safe mode. After restarting, I installed the new driver without the NVIDIA app and rebooted the PC. I launched MSFS 2020 (DX11) and there was no CTD. However, when I launched it a second time, a CTD during loading occurred.

Some time ago I decided to report the bug and the team handling it on Asobo side managed to reproduce it as well, which means CTD during loading MSFS 2020 is now officially bug-logged

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs-2020-ctd-during-loading-with-or-without-nvidia-app-installed-dx11/732584

There’s currently a workaround available and even several of them.

Before trying any workaround, please make sure to participate in the linked thread to confirm you’re also affected by this bug.

Here come the workarounds (click to expand)

I am reverting to driver 577.00, of course without NVIDIA app, because otherwise MSFS 2020 will also CTD during loading with DX11.

I had multiple CTD once the update had been installed
ASUS ROG STRIX 4090 and MSFS2024 SU2.

Flying the PMDG 738 now in SU16 (DX12) on 580.97 and everything so far is looking and performing great set to DLSS/Quality 310.3.0 preset K. Could not be happier with the sim at this moment.

Same bug as prior versions.

Here is 577 followed by the latest 580 variant…

Is there an approved way to file this with the NVIDIA Devs?

This is ASUS MB and 5080.

Where is this option that the driver talks? ”NVIDIA GPU only”, I have some configuration minor problems during years using iGPU (intel and now AMD) and Nvidia GPU together in W11.

Are Nvidia application filters working on this driver version (580.97)?

Installed 580.97 via Nvidia App and when entering flight / ready to fly prompt (MSFS 2020 - 2D), hang. Tried 3 times and same. Reverted to prior driver 580.88. Noting I’ve been using DX12 at all times as DX11 in MSFS 2020 is a CTD with 5060 Ti. However after reverting I now find stutter is much more reduced at airports to negligible level. Will continue testing and may skip this driver as I lost 2h I’ll not get back. Although I do have GTA V Enh so will miss the upgrade. Maybe I could try again with clean install in future / reboot this time and do it on an RDP whilst doing something else etc.

And the CTD has occurred with all drivers for DX11. I do also use VR with Quest 2 ref my comments above about the stutter improvement. I only have MSFS 2020 and didn’t realise when getting 5060 Frame Gen & MFG do not work with 2020, was disappointed. Obv. I’ll buy 2024 at some future point but the 1Tb setup I’ve done to NVME for MSFS has taken a lot of time to set up….I’ve read about the DLSS Swapper but not sure I want to go that route.

For me, for the first time in years I found a driver that really mess things up, this driver runs like s*it for me. (MSFS2024)

Every time I takeoff SAZM (Mar del plata on Argentina) the FPS starts to slowly decrease over time. 40… 35.. 30… 29… 28… 27… ….. 19… 18… etc. No high GPU usage, no VRAM overflow, no mainthread on red/purple, but the overall performance was slowly decreasing. I couldn’t understand why.

I even tried to DDU and reinstall, and what is interesting is that in my case it didn’t fully unistalled them, it went back to a 460.xx version from year 2024 or something like that.

DDU again, instaled the drivers I was using (576.40) and FPS went back to normal (55 fps without FG)

I will try the 580.88, as far as you guys posted here, it’s a good driver but I haven’t tested it so I will try it later.

(ASUS ROG STRIX G513QR, Nvidia 5070 laptop GPU, Rayzen 5800H)

More news from my testing.
I have the feeling that for my pc the 58x branch is a no-go. But tried the next newest driver (577.00) and works fine. (not nvidia app installed)

I don’t know what they did to the 58x branch for the 3070 laptop GPUs but it’s performing really bad with MSFS2024.

Installed this one (express installation with Nvidia app) and have no problems at all with MSFS 2024. Seems to be a keeper.

Ya, good eye mate. I just noticed that as well (310.3.0). This happened today for both 2020/2024 with 580.88 driver. No need to use that Swapfile app. I can’t honestly see any difference from 310.2 but apparently it’s supposed to use a little less VRAM. With my rtx4090 having 24Gb VRAM I don’t think I’ve ever come close to using all that anyway. Cheers.

I’ve had another go at express install of driver v580.97 and rebooted after the update. This time it worked ref MSFS 2020. I’ve also used the NVidia App to override the DLSS model to latest and can confirm all working. So prior go must of perhaps required a reboot….

5 flights in (4 in 24 and one in 2020) and I’m so far very happy with 580.97 and DLSS/Quality 310.3.0 preset K on my PC (parts in profile).
