This new Game Ready Driver provides the best gaming experience for the latest new games supporting DLSS 4.5 technology including PRAGMATA and NTE (Neverness to Everness) as well as Windrose which supports DLSS 4 features.
Fixed Gaming Bugs
Arknights: Endfield: stutter may be observed in some gameplay [5950402]
Don’t you wonder why Nvidia releases updates for game bugs, especially 7 year old games like Arknights? Is it because developers use the Nvidia API the wrong way, so Nvidia changes the API to match their buggy code, or is because the drivers are so buggy they have to keep fixing them? But then why 7 years later in the case of Arknights? It’s a bit of a mystery.
Are the various filters in the NVIDIA software for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 available again? Can they be used now, or are they still unavailable?
It’s been 14 months since I’ve made the move from Series X to a new PC, so that many months of driver updates and this question keeps coming up in these threads; I’ve not yet seen any posts in the affirmative in those 14 months. Wondering if perhaps these filters are a thing of the past?
Unfortunately, NVIDIA filters have not been available in the application for quite a long time now, and their absence is greatly felt when it comes to enhancing the simulator experience.
I am not sure whether this issue has been officially reported on NVIDIA’s platform—either as a bug report or on any official NVIDIA forum—and if it has, what response NVIDIA has provided. It would be important to know whether this problem is acknowledged, when it is expected to be resolved, and when these filters will become available again in the simulator.
These filters are extremely important, and it would be highly beneficial to have them restored as soon as possible. Currently, I am using ReShade filters, but NVIDIA’s filters were significantly better, and I am really looking forward to their return.
I’m currently testing GPUs with the new NVIDIA driver and I have to say it’s actually pretty solid. I’m pleasantly surprised by the performance in MSFS 2020 and 2024 SU4. Everything feels smoother and more stable than I expected, especially in heavier scenes where older drivers used to struggle.
I haven’t checked the NVIDIA filters because I don’t really need them.
ToC in the latest PMDG 736 on 596.21 and enjoying a super smooth & visually beautiful flight so far. Hand flown departure was absolutely responsive and my PC (spec in profile) is delivering big time on DLSS 4.5 Performance, preset M, 310.6.0 to my old 60 Hz 65” 4k HDTV. Things just keep getting better and better these days!
A while ago I would’ve told you to skip the NVIDIA app entirely, because it was kind of a mess. But they’ve added and improved quite a lot since then, so now it really comes down to your own preferences.
For example, if you actually use DLSS, I’d say it’s worth installing. They’ve improved DLSS quite a bit recently and getting the latest version directly from NVIDIA is more convenient and safer than manually replacing original .dll files. Like in MSFS 2024 nvngx_dlss.dll and nvngx_dlssg.dll
On the other hand, I personally don’t use DLSS and Frame Generation, so I didn’t bother installing the NVIDIA app at all.
Thank you, buddy. I actually don’t use DLSS; 99% of my flights are in VR, and I use TAA. I’ll go as I used to, debloating the driver and configuring it through the legacy control panel and the profile inspector to tweak some parameters over there.
The NVidia app provides a one click performance optimizer that will overclock the gpu a little without voiding the warranty. For me this is a very good reason to use it so I can squeeze as much as possible out of my 4090. It takes about 10-20 minutes to run the first time you enable it as it tests your actual card to determine how to tweak it.
For me personally I do use the Nvidia App for one main reason. They are going to replace the Nvidia Control Panel with it so I might as well have to see how it compares for each task while there is a n NCP to compare it with.
I do use the performance optimiser, which I find useful. I do use it to automatically download a new driver version, but I don’t install it automatically as I run the driver through NVCleanstall to remove unnecessary bits.
So at the moment I do use it but nowhere near its full capabilities.
After installing this driver (596.21), i noticed the GPU running at anywhere between 95-100% full load. Not good, it could just be my setup, because it seems many are quite happy with this new driver.
Running MSFS 2020
Re-installed 595.97, GPU running normal again. Win 11 Pro latest build ASUS ROG Strix RTX3080 OC 10G i911900k 64G RAM
Thanks for reporting. Noticed the GPU (5090) seemed to be running flat out too but just thought it was due to rebuilding caches after driver update. Will need to do some more testing.
NVIDIA filters are handled by the driver and NVIDIA developers, not by Asobo. Therefore, I recommend reporting this issue directly to NVIDIA by using the feedback form linked below. Display Driver Feedback Form
EDIT
It’s actually a good thing that your GPU is being utilized close to 100% at 4K - that’s exactly how it should be under load. You want the GPU to do the heavy lifting. It would be more concerning if your CPU was constantly at 100%.
Anyway, today is the last day I’m testing the RTX 4090 before handing it over to the buyer tomorrow, and I’ve also noticed the GPU usage sitting around 100%. Later today I’ll reinstall the RTX 5090 in my PC and check how GPU utilization looks.
It’s also worth noting that GPU usage changes depending on factors like resolution - the higher the resolution, the more load is put on the GPU.
Thanks for the reply TenPatrol, Noted. Have had a similar issue on a previous driver some time back, cannot remember which one, but there was a fix out at the time on that driver as i recall.
Ok, here’s an update:
I reinstalled 596.21 after using DDU again and going into Safe mode as usual. Well, suffice to say, it seems all is running good, GPU behaving normally (Not running to 95-100% constantly). Must have been a corrupt install from my side. So far, running MSFS 2020 all seems stable and good.
Best Regards
PSA, I think this version 596.21 may mess up multiple monitor connections.
I just did a complete wipe and clean install of Window 11 25H2, new install of this NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 596.21, and upon reboot my Asus Tuf RTX 5090 OC could only connect to 2 of my 3 screens at a time (Samsung S90D 4K OLED TVs). That sounds like 1 TV was a problem, but they all worked fine 1 at a time - the card just couldn’t accept more than any 2 connected, regarless of resolution setting, refresh rate, cable, etc, which was extremely alarming.
I changed cables, ports, reset the TVs to factory settings, every combination of this cable with that port with that TV… Similar reports on the NVIDIA forum.
I unplugged everything from power overnight … and considered deeply whether all of this endless troubleshooting was worth it, and if I should just sell it all and find something more rewarding to do…
I decided to clean install again with the previous 595.97 driver, and at least now I have 3 screens working again in Windows… I don’t think I’ll upgrade to the new 596.21 until either a hotfix or new info comes out, or the next update.
