It’s worth adding that this seems to be bugged in the Global Profile. That’s why I always recommend making changes in the individual profiles for each game or application. The Global Profile should be left at its default settings.
In PCVR, Win 11, Steam version. I’ve now had 2 freezes with this driver thru VR. Running it thru Quest link and doesnt seem to like it. Flatscreen still runs fine (game doesnt crash). NEVER had this happen before until this driver.
The update to the affected/bugged game profile is pushed in the background and added after you log into Windows if the driver is already installed. The 24-hour period is simply another trigger for checking for the OTA profile update - you don’t necessarily have to wait 24 hours.
Also, the OTA update I mentioned is not for MSFS 2024.
That said, I noticed that you are using mods that replace original game files and also add additional files to the folder containing the MSFS 2024 .exe. These can affect the game’s ability to launch.
As a matter of fact, yesterday I deliberately managed to reproduce a MSFS 2024 launch issue: I added ReShade and the new DLSS 5 mod specifically to force a problem. The sim then froze at 88% during loading and became unresponsive.
I could have blamed the driver, but that was exactly why I added those modifications -to deliberately introduce another variable and see if I could reproduce a launch failure.
I didn’t bother trying to uninstall the modifications one by one. To make absolutely sure that nothing in the Content folder could have any influence on the MSFS 2024 launch, I simply deleted everything from that folder.
I then opened the Xbox app and went to:
MSFS 2024 > three dots > Manage > Files > Verify and Repair
After the repair was completed, MSFS 2024 launched normally.
// In this case, the repair process essentially consisted of downloading the deleted MSFS 2024 launcher back into the Content folder.
So in my case, I could have blamed the driver for the freeze at 88%, but after removing the modified files and running Verify and Repair, MSFS started normally again.
That is a useful post for some people, but not for me as I don’t have any mods at all. I have not replaced the .exe nor added any other files into the folder.
I do not have dlss enabler installed, and I couldn’t test dlss 5, even if I wanted to, as you need a 616 driver.
That is the only reason that i narrowed it down to the driver as 2024 is installed as it came. You probably don’t remember but I stated that I had reinstall MSFS2024 as part of my diags.
