OAT of 248 C ?! (Impacts negatively on aircraft performance and autopilot function)

LKMT - LOWI, across the Alps, cruise at FL380.. no issues.

Neither am I, I seldom fly above FL100 in GA. Sometimes a little higher in the Vertigo – but yes, FL500 is “in space”

But up there, it sure seems to be getting HOT !!

KMKE to KSUS @ FL310 - all good! So happy to see this fixed as of right now. The weather is beautiful up here.

Just did KRIC to KNRB in the CJ4, cruised at FL400, no issues. My theory is that the temp spike issue got worse since SU7 due to winter’s onset, and flying toward warmer temps should help avoid it.

I could finally finish my trip from moscow back to heathrow as well, no issues with the weather except unexpected imc conditions due to low hanging clouds over london. But no heatspikes during 3h on FL360.

The OAT of 248 C at FL285 was fixed by Asobo on Friday Night (12/3/21) by a fix on the weather server. (?)

there was NOT any sort of Hot Fix needed to be sent out to users.

But now there is a similar occurrence at about FL450.
( so high an Altitude, that many do not care :sunglasses: )

So the OAT of 248 C at FL285 bug is FIXED

It appears that the MeteoBlue NEMS 30 model may only contains data up to the 150 millibar pressure level, which in an ISA atmosphere is 44,300 feet. Some other models (such as the GFS) go up to the 70 millibar level or even higher.

44,300 feet (approximately) may be the upper limit of the Live Weather system, which would explain the temperature spike at that altitude. The only solution would be to set the 150 millibar conditions for all altitudes above 150 millibars. They might have have been doing that prior to SU7, and perhaps it accidentally got disabled.

Brilliant Insight !!! I bet not many using MSFS 2020 have gone that high to see these issues.

Except of course Jeff Bezos, William Shattner , Richard Branson and now

Not yet, but acceptable outside temperatures up to FL600 will be required when the DC Designs Concorde is released for FS2020.

If it will be as detailed as the flightsimlabs one that will be loads of fun!

According to the release notes of the upcoming patch, temperature spikes above FL450 will be fixed.

The “Clear sky” model goes up to FL2750, so it will probably be a good enough approximation to continue the Live Weather profile up to that level, using a theoretical profile.

Its not as if the Live Weather has to simulate any CLOUD up there !!

In fact, it already does (apart from the recently introduced discontinuity)

Rex still has some work to get their engine working acceptably as well, but probably not until Asobo get their act together with both their Weather Server and the MSFS client.

Lots of weird discontinuities going on with REX at the moment, but to be fair, they are still working on it and are saying its not interfacing correctly yet.

Did 2 flights today, both at FL380. All good!

Going to give it a try tonight. Let’s see if I have any issues.

So flew to cruse of FL390 and no issues. Other than the RAT was stuck at the ground temp of 19 deg the whole time. At least I wasn’t put in the oven and required myself to land. Although not very realistic.

I flew earlier today and no issue, made it to FL300.

Just have an issue today after 2 days without.
After getting a virtually “oceanic clearance” over the antlantic, I was at FL340 Mach 0.86 when the airplane falls immediatly to FL240 and speed as well close to stall speed…

Yes and here. What on earth are they doing with this sim?!!!

Flying Amsterdam to Mumbai in the Dreamliner, first part of flight fine, went away for a bit and came back to chaos!!!
