Hello everyone,
The MSFS Cannonball Run 2021 charity event is less than three days away from the time of this writing! We have a record 110 sim pilots who registered as official entrants in this race! As part of this community event, we will be raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention with a fundraising goal of USD $10,000. If you care to make a donation to this cause, please do so using this link. All donations go directly to the organization; neither Microsoft/Asobo nor me personally ever see any of the money donated.
Please read this thread carefully for important information for both racers and spectators.
I will be hosting a livestream on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Official Twitch Channel starting at about 7:30am New York time (1230Z) on Dec 26th and broadcasting continuously until I land at LAX approximately 20 hours later.
Information for Registered Racers
As a reminder, please familiarize yourself with the Race Rules. If you have any questions or need a rule clarified during the race, feel free to ask in Twitch chat and I will answer you live on the stream.
Wheels up at 8:00am New York time (1300Z) sharp. The timer starts immediately, and your race is over whenever you come to a full stop landing with the parking brake enabled at KLAX. Live Weather and Live Time must be enabled for the entire duration of your flight. Everyone is to fly on the East USA server, the home server of our departure airport.
Remember to stay healthy during your run! Take regular breaks to stretch, hydrate, and use the bathroom.
For PC players logging your flight telemetry with simair.io, you must restart the SimAir client before re-launching MSFS if you have a CTD. This is extremely important. SimAir will stop logging your flight data if you don’t manually restart it before opening MSFS.
To submit your completion time, please do the following:
PC Players
Please reply to this thread with the UTC/Zulu time at which your race finished and a link to your simair.io logbook and include a screenshot of your log showing a “PARKED” status at KLAX, similar to the below example:
Xbox Players
Please reply to this thread with the UTC/Zulu time at which your race finished and include a screenshot of your in-sim logbook showing each leg of your total flight similar to the below example:
Good luck and fair weather to all racers! We’ll see you in the sky on Sunday morning!
Information for Spectators
Everyone is welcome to fly alongside the registered racers for some or all of the event. If you are not officially competing, then you do not need to abide by the aircraft type restrictions and can fly any plane you wish.
You can watch the Cannonball Run on the Official MSFS Twitch Channel. Additionally, several members of our player community will also be livestreaming their individual runs on their own channels. A list of these is below:
