FLIGHT DETAILS

Stock up on Tim Tams, Arnott’s Shapes, and Vegemite! To celebrate the release of World Update VII: Australia, we will be hosting a flight in the Land Down Under for this week’s Community Fly-In. Joining your regular stream hosts will be several members of the Orbx team who helped create the updated Australian POIs and the Fokker F.VII airplane, our second Local Legend.

Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
Community Fly-In Friday 2022-02-04 Australia World Update.PLN (3.9 KB)

We will be starting at YSHL. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: we suggest the recently-released Local Legend II: Fokker F.VII “Southern Cross” for this flight. If you do not own this payware plane, any other aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 90-100 knots is fine.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable Setting
Server SE Asia Update: North Europe
Multiplayer All Players
Live traffic As preferred
Weather Few Clouds
Time of Day Daytime

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

LET’S FLY

This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.

Hello everyone,

Due to some last-minute scheduling conflicts with our friends at Orbx, we will be moving the original flight plan using the Fokker F.VII Southern Cross as described in the OP above to a future date. Not to worry, though, we still want to showcase the new Australia World Update during this week’s Community Fly-In, so we’ll be flying a new route northbound up the beautiful Gold Coast. You can download the new .pln for the February 4 flight below. For suggested aircraft, you’ll want to fly anything with a cruise speed of around 120 knots (X or NX Cub, Cessna 172, Pipistrel Virus, Flight Design CTSL, PC-6 Porter, or similar). The new starting airport is YCFS

Thanks for continuing to run these. My friend, Fizzyhamst3r, and I have been enjoying them for many months!

Always something to look forward to at the end of a busy week.

I’m there… flying alone. First community fly-in.

Took off from Shellharbour… 12 minutes into flight at 100 knots, 2,300 feet… all alone!

All settings as advised. Except, I’m using Live Weather.

Halfway through the first checkpoint…

Please advise.

â– â– â– â– ! I just checked this now!

What a disappointment!
