[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Canary Islands

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

This week we’re off to Spain’s beautiful Canary Islands, an archipelago off the coast of Morocco. The Canary Islands have a comfortable climate and many beaches which makes them an incredibly popular tourist destination.

Optional Payware Add-on: Developer Island Creations has several scenery add-ons available in the Marketplace that enhance different areas of the Canary Islands. This purchase is entirely optional and is not required to join this fly-in.

MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC, PS5, and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or PS5/Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at GCRR. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Beechcraft Bonanza, Cirrus SR22T, Diamond DA62, Extra 330LT, Pitts Special, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 150 knots or greater.

Not joining this flight but flying so “close” near you all. Doing a “FSEconomy flight” with my all time favorite 404 Titan. Passing you all at FL160 in 15 minutes heading GCHI (Hierro).

Nice chill flight in a new location for me.

Had to put the pedal to the metal with 185 on floats, as was cruising around POIs with BushTalkRadio, which was interresting.

This is what BushTalkRadio does:

It reads trivia of a POI out loud with an AI, if you get close enough. It needs an EFB app and a website open (shows map with plane position, pois and plays the audio in background). Additionally the POIs can be downloaded as actual pois in the sim.
It’s the perfect substitute for the lack of narrated Bushtrips in FS24.

Currently it is free of charge, but they already had to downscale the AI voice accurracy because of the costs, so consider supporting them on patreon, if you have the means and use it often:

Arrival at Destination:

Are waterlandings at dusk or even at night actually a thing, or is it considered too dangerous cause of visibility issues and no landing strip lights?

Really enjoyed this trip at the Canary Islands, live time and live weather made the route very nice, especially the sunset.
