[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Central America

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

The Act of Independence of Central America was enacted on September 15, 1821, which is now recognized as the national day of five countries in the region: Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.

To mark this occasion, our group flight this week will see us visit four of these countries, including a touch and go landing at Toncontín Airport (MHTG) in Honduras, ranked by The History Channel as the #2 most extreme airport in the world due to its challenging approach and difficult terrain.

MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at MGGT. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Beechcraft King Air, Cessna C400 Corvalis TT, Cessna C408 SkyCourier, Cirrus Vision Jet, Zivko Edge 540, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of about 200 knots.

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

Was on SU4 Beta, saw 2 people at start, but they dissapeared on me short after take off. So was alone the whole flight. But some really nice scenery to enjoy.

SU3 still causing stutters when near other planes so I got a little distance from the pack for most of the flight. Nice relaxing flight.

SU3 … several instances with multiple stutters. I’ve been experiencing stutter free flyins with SU2. (Wake turbulence confirmed still off.)

Be sure to disable wake turbulence as it creates some really bad stutters when active.

Sadly, I had a lot of stutters and bad FPS on SU3 with wake turbulence turned off. Might have been all those other aircraft around me. Just spawned in again today and it’s all butter smooth.

I really like the MU-2, not sure if it works in MSFS 2024, will have to give it a try.

On stream it looked like the beacon still seems to come from inside the wing.

It was a great event on Friday, I don’t think I’ve been in Central America in the sim before (or in real life for that matter). Also it was the first time I tried the TBM. The scenery was nice, the stream was great, I hope to join the next one in Chile!
