[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Hokkaido

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

It’s the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, so this week we’re off to Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island! Hokkaido is renowned for it’s excellent snow conditions, making it one of the world’s premiere destinations for skiers, snowboarders, and other winter sport enthusiasts!

We will depart from Kushiro on the East coast and zig-zag our way across the island and over some picturesque mountains as we make our way to Hokkaido’s largest city, Sapporo.

**MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at RJCK. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna 172, CubCrafters X or NXCub, De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, Diamond DA-40, Flight Design CTSL, JMB VL-3, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 100+ knots.

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Did the flight twice, once in MSFS 2020, I’m not ashamed to admit I crashed. But I think my pilot wanted to go skiing

I later did it in MSFS 2024, a very slow plane. But the plane itself had me fascinated. I just never realized just how slow it was, oh well, I was glad I was able to take it for a flight

I think I can’t attend today. I’m on beta 1.3.13.0 and it really doesn’t seem to work in multiplayer…

It’s too close for me to switch to the release version now.

I gave it a good college try but today just wasn’t the day for me. I had 3 CTDs before take off and then I managed to fly the first leg (way behind the crowd) and did a touch and go, then while headed to the second waypoint I started having issues with the G1000 shutting off and resetting multiple times and then finally causing another CTD. I tried, it looks like an enjoyable flight but unfortunately I can’t join today.

Yeah, it was crashing a lot, had to reinstall after switching back to the public build. Got in half-way through the flight.

Interesting to hear so many others with the same issue. I had a CTD twice in a row before take-off, and I have never had a CTD in FS2024 before. So I took that as a sign that today isn’t the day to fly, called it quits.

Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve had issues like this. I’m wondering if something in the latest update is causing it. I haven’t flown since Tuesday and I think they had an update yesterday.
