[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Kenya

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

This week, we’re off to the East African nation of Kenya! Starting at the coastal resort city of Mombasa, we will make our way on a generally northwesterly heading to the capital city of Nairobi. En route, we should have a good view of Mount Kilimanjaro , the highest peak in Africa!

MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at HKMO. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravan, Cirrus SR22, Diamond DA62, Draco X, Extra 330LT, Pitts Special, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of about ~150 knots.

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

With a small fleet of these visiting my hometown this past week, it felt like an opportune moment to take it for a spin on this fly-in Friday. Beautiful flight and I made it to the peak of Kili as well!

What an outstanding flight today!

Hat tip to our Beta test group, in particular @IceManDBB - excellent choice of aircraft if I may say so, and some great flying to go along with it.

I am thrilled to see that at least the two of us saw each other in the correct airframe, and - as hard as that may be to believe for you - also the correct livery. Yes, I actually chose that paint!

It was difficult to cull the screenshot selection this time. There was so much variety packed into two hours today! That was emphasized by flying this little pocket rocket, which let me circle the summit of Africa’s highest mountain at 20,000 ft with ease, and drop into a little grass strip not much later.

Such a fun fly-in today! I had a blast and I even had a wingmate for a bit! Seeing Kilimanjaro peek through the clouds was great and just overall such a photogenic landscape.

It was fun having Stuxit for a C-160 wingman again, was fun to see some giraffe, and fun to bless the rains down in Africa

It was a nice event yesterday, really enjoyed it. I set the time so I had a nice sunset by the end of the flight, really like it when the sun goes down in the sim. Also liked the lot of topics that were discussed during the stream, shoutout for mentioning “Keep talking and nobody explodes”, really good game, recommended for everyone to try it with friends or family.
