Official Discussion: Hotfix 1.18.15.0

Weird. All the previous updates had an update on the client and then another inside the sim.

Volumetric lighting is back, Yay!
ps. Excuse the compression – happens during image upload to the forum.

I totally agree with you on 1 and 2
Need a bit more time for testing

No this was over nyc towards queens on Roosevelt island.

It’s a static polygon line drawing as though it’s trying to model the smoke but it’s not quite there

See for yourself. gordongreig has also posted pictures.
I have posted 2 contributions in this thread.
One is a comparison of SU5 (Hotfix_1.18.14.0) vs SU5 (Hotfix_1.18.15.0)
and once SU4 vs SU5 (Hotfix_1.18.15.0).
Just scroll up. Just read the whole thread.

Varies - I’ve seen both. In sim stuff seems to be more when they change the assets rather than the core sim. Anyway, I got 464Mb in the MS Store, and that was it. Looks good though

So u will admit the hotfix back to su4 or greater than su4?

It feels like this mod has opened up what SU 5 closed or limited as this does feel more like what we had.

As I say not perfect but Def a positive step

Ground texture scenery looks great
Better performance than previous version
Photogrammetry better but still not perfect - probs related to pop in issue

Is this the correct lighting for London (EGLC) at night, looks like that there is a block missing?
LOD both set to 3

Not for me to admit. Judge the video for yourself. I don;t know what you see in your sim

A quick flight in the 172. The ATC setup menu (flight # etc) still is not holding the values on the screen although it does change in the sim. Rather annoying. To me, the sky definitely does not look as ā€˜blown out’ as before. After SU5, I couldn’t even make out the clouds it was just a white mess. Looks better now as you can make out clouds and they look OK. Did not get CTD, although the 172 was a plane that I did not get any with so… I will have to try a flight with the TBM since that crashes most of the time for me since SU5 (they did not claim to have fixed the CTD issue in this hotfix from what I’ve read so I’m not going judge this hotfix on that). Verdict is that I don’t see anything else broken and the sky brightness does seem a little better. It is an improvement… at least for me. Thank you.

U can’t judge what u see in your video? Ok then

Haven’t spotted an image demonstrating the terrain at very high altitudes so far, so here’s one. Native 4K (make sure to view at full size), FL350, Terrain LOD 200, sharpening filter disabled. To me it looks better than ever before. Photogrammetry buildings fully visible.

Yes, it is going in the right direction in my eyes. I especially like the brighter surroundings now with cloudy skies. With SU4 it was too dark for me. It always looked as if a thunderstorm was coming.

The mouse issues are still present after the update… small bugs like these need to be addressed in these hotfixes. I’m having a hard time enjoying VR with the mouse pop-up issues. Also, the external view rotation speed is still dreadfully slow and nothing like Sim Update 4 (the speed was clearly reduced to avoid seeing the pop-in scenery as you pan the camera)… clouds still look nerfed in my opinion…and CTD on my second flight loading in… still a long ways to go to restore what PC users once had.

Also… vatsim altitude still not fixed after two patches!? Yikes.

Dude, why do you want someone to feed you an opinion? can you take a quick look-see at his videos and make your own opinion? I’m just curious because you’re really pressing hard seemingly for no gain.

Why don’t you just start up the sim and see for yourself?
