I suspect you’ll find a lot of them are Steam users thinking that verifying their sim will fix unrelated issues the are having, then quickly finding out Steam has deleted the files the sim itself downloaded as Steam has no knowledge of them. In the context of the MS Store platform it would be like deleting everything except what the Store itself downloads.
This seems to me a fundamental flaw of the way MSFS is delivered on that platform.
Game has become a stutter fest since the last update and even more after this hotfix. Going to uninstall and reinstall from scratch as this has usually been helpful in the past to get things back on a level playing field.
Did a flight from EDRT to EDHL yesterday morning from 8:00 to 9:30 local time. The graphic appearance was consistently good. I couldn’t find any overexposure to the ground textures. I really enjoyed the flight. No stuttering, no CTD, everything went wonderfully. Only over Hamburg could I see clear popups of buildings and trees near the aircraft. The trees and buildings are faded in, but the fade in time is so short that the eye is immediately aware of these areas. With a longer fade-in time, this would certainly be less noticeable, but it would probably cost considerable performance. Also in Hamburg I saw a bridge lying in the water, i.e. a bridge that was not implemented in 3D. Curiously, a much smaller bridge is implemented as a 3D object right next to this relatively large bridge. But that was really the only thing that struck me negatively on this flight. Here are a few pictures of the flight.
This problem was not caused by an anti-virus on my computer and it was not caused by the Microsoft Security Tool.
I believe this problem is caused by a buggy third-party freeware software program.
Please do not ask me to mention names. It is up to each individual user to to vigilant and their responsibility to keep their own data safe.
The response from Microsoft was a caution about using third-party software with their simulator. It’s good advise to be cautious, there may be a bug in a certain application that has been exploited. Microsoft are aware.
This is an absolute nightmare over about 3 days to get to 1.19.9.0.
I had the usual nonsense with Microsoft Store and did the well known fix but this prompted a 147GB update which then turned out to be a double installation of the OneStore Folder filling my Drive C.
I deleted one of them to reclaim space on my hard drive and reinstalled my third party purchases.
All was well yesterday over about 3 start ups and I thought it was OK and showed 1.19.9.0.
This morning click on Start - Microsoft Flight Sim and it goes Microsoft Store again with no updates obviously and will not start from there. Why is it going there again ?
So , can’t even run it at all now.
Do updates have to be such a nightmare ?
I have two hiccups. I get a CTD everytime when I leave VR. Not a big problem because I was going to stop anyway. And the second strange thing is that if I want to play World of War Planes after I played Msfs2020 My Logitec Extreme 3D is not working. I have to restart the computer in order to fix it. Has anybody the same occurrences?
MSFS is being treated as a Pop-Out, not running in full screen. This will cause a massive drop in performance when it runs this way.
You probably see very low GPU utilization while in this situation too.. Mine gets stuck like this sometimes after an update, and a restart of windows will solve it. if its opening up “not full screen” every time, not sure what would cause that frankly, but pretty condifent is the primary cause of very poor performance.
I know right… I was REALLY enjoying the huge bump in performance with the off screen caching in Track IR. (No longer a stutter fest) Now… can’t even start the ■■■■ thing half the time.
My buddy had to re-install TWICE after this hotfix (Sim Corruption issues.) and still can’t get it to load constantly. Empty community folder and deleted content.xml file and all.
Seems this is not abnormal from other posts I see flying around.
This has also been reported elsewhere, I’ve had it happen after version 1.18.15.0. Normally happens after flying for an hour or more. Some say disabling AI traffic may solve the problem. I haven’t flown much after SU5 so I haven’t been able to test it properly .
Do a search for “crackling sound” on the forum, you’ll find others having similar problems and some other posts like yours.
For instance this, or this one.
