Wonderful. That’s what I was hoping. Thanks Don!
If you lower the number of trees, a forest will no longer look like a forest. That was one of the points that was raised in one of those links.
If the forest you are trying to depict has tall narrow trees, and the sim uses the wide ones it has, then its easy to make it look like a forest. If you change the object to one with thin trees instead, it won’t look like a forest any more, not because the density of trees have change but the amount of foliage. You then need to generate even more trees, which has an impact.
So yes, you could have less trees, and larger draw distance (something else touched on in one of the videos I linked to, where tree size was reduced, and then they couldn’t be seen in the distance), but a forest might look like this:
I know, but there is people don’t care about amount of trees. I doubt it will look like this, colour of the trees are matched\rendered from the ground texture photo sat just below, hence sometime you see trees line colour separation ( darker green\lighter green) within the same perimeter.
ATC Incorrect Altitude
OMG I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I was yelling at my computer until I flew 400 feet higher just to shut it up. Glad to know this is a bug and will be fixed soon. VFR for the mean time I guess.
i have experienced the following
- UI . 1 minute delay at random intevals when trying to use the US weather flying and accessing ATC , theo whole scree output locks in place(almost as if windows 3.11 was loading a swap file data. )
- The game will not use more than 4093 megabytes of system memeory despite having 32 available
( I sincerely hope some rookie didn’t introduce swap files as a way to shoe horn msfs in to the xbox limitations ) I have a 2000mbps m.2ssd and this is not enough if this is the cause
suggeteed SOLUTION: separate the xbox and pc msfs builds its clear they are not compatible
- Game freezes even on pressing ESC to get to system menu for up to one minute
- The resume button somehow has picked up a keystroke combination oc CRTL, ALT P and escape no longer resumes from the system menu when paused ,
- There are three types of pause simulation in game and each one has its own keys to turn it off or unpause and wont activate or deactivate the others , making pausing a complete mess
- The CTD I some times experience when the game freeze is making the game unplayable
- The content manager failed to recognise the mandatory update and wanted to redownload a ton of files an additional 15 gigabytes
- Finally as you put it a feature request the downloader using the GPU and tying a computer up for 4 days while it tries to redownload the whole game at pitifully slow speeds, I was downloading average 5 megabits per second on a 40 megabit per second line, this is not an isp issue. As speed testes allowed me to test up to 40 megabits
and my biggest annoyance is the PROFANITY FILTER on registration ,
i can understand some words being removed but my reg G-SPOT is not profane its not rude unless someone looks for a google image , its coincidental
and registrations were whited out to online players anyway so it makes no sense to butcher the atc when ATC will only say Golf -Oscar Tango , the word is never spoken in game , Nor is it ever visible in game to other players this is a feature that was pointlessly added to annoy people , there needs to be a setting option to turn this abck to the way it was before ,
ESPECIALLY considering some of the gamer tags are far more offensive
i saw a suckmy… expletive one one gamertag
if you want name plates should contain registrations not gamertags but regs should be visible to the player only exactly how it was ,
I have used my reg for 8 years , and been a Sim Pilot since 1995
Well, technically nothing’s been delivered yet.![]()
I do wholeheartedly believe the bugs will be squashed with this hotfix. The simulator is a complex piece of software and it’s often the case that one bug “pulls” in more bugs, creating a clusterf…a series of unfortunate events.![]()
As an example just take the missing volumetric lighting…the team told us it’s a shader bug, yet who knows what other seemingly unrelated parts of the sim are affected by that.
In some variations of our universe would it be able to C the sim TD ?
Absolutely, the rendering starts as soon as you load the world map. Absolutely…
Then the bug in a certain math library which directly affects the functioning of the CRJ by Aerosoft.
Could it also play a role in CTDs at various places and with various addons in the sim ?
Could it even be causing issues with the DEFAULT simulator content ?
Yes, absolutely !
To also drop in my personal 2 cents:
honestly I look forward to the promised hotfix tomorrow, since during the week I am so busy with my research and work and dozens of other everyday obligations and micro-annoyances…
…so I live for those weekends when I am finally able to relax and enjoy flight simming.
I am sure there are lots of you fellow simmers with the similar tempo.
Stay safe and cee ya in the virtual skies !
The math library bug would only affect add-ons built using WASM. This includes the CRJ and PMDG DC-6. The WT-4 CJ4 does use WASM for some complex calculations “behind the scenes”, but not for creating the main cockpit gauges or graphics. I believe that is also the case with the FBW A320.
Will other aircraft missing nav lights in flight be addressed, and taxiway lights disappearing when within 10-15 feet?
Yes I know, it also includes FSUIPC that’s also the main component required for quite a number of addons to communicate with the sim and function properly.
The point being, it’s a far reaching bug.
Soooo looking forward.Thanks guys
Yes…XPlane. After SU6 I’ll come back for a peek ![]()
And ‘yes’ to the last statement ![]()
AND: I sure wish I could play monkey tennis. Alan Partridge would proud. hehe
A possibility for thick forests is the use of a selection of tileable tiles in conjunction with somewhat randomised shadow / sunlight rendering rather than rendering the trees themselves (although I’m not sure they don’t do this already). It would have to be well thought out though.
I always knew you would come back. They all do.
I promise I’ll stop stalking you now. ![]()
Im more of a redneck.
If SU6 doesn’t kill everything again then I’ll come back.
Stalking: you’re fine.

Thx
Where’s the bug fix its Friday where is it…
Sorry someone had to be the 1st to start with this cry Bwhahahahah!
I was referring to Jayne delivering the message (communication). Asobo is the one that delivers the fixes and updates.
Yes, we’re looking forward to the hotfix tomorrow if not Monday ![]()
Everything in this reeks of sloppy programming. The bugs we all discover so easily… not saving of settings, not saving of the filters on the world map, no more airport history, strange nav-plans, incomprehensible time sliders with incorrect local time, disappearing airports on the worldmap if you zoom in and out a bit… it’s like they didn’t test at all. We all discover these bugs within 30 minutes! So why haven’t they? Are they flying in X-Plane? Add something new, break a bunch of other stuff, don’t catch it in QC.
And that’s on top of the bugs that were already present and never got fixed.
So, how far does that sloppiness extend into stuff we can’t see but ends in a CTD?
Is it easy? No. Can it be done better? Yes. But perhaps MS should recognize it isn’t working and start giving Asobo some breathing room to get their act together, in stead of imposing deadline after deadline on an unfinished buggy product.
I am a bit of a grump. So I like to grump. But they give me enough reason to.
Indeed, this goes way beyond the graphics issues, and I’m a little worried the focus is so much on that. This was supposed to be a sim update, not a world update, and it’s done nothing to fix all the problems in the actual flying simulator, introduced a load of new ones, and worsenned the graphics at the same time. Stuff like weight settings being lost as soon as you click to another part of the world map is just so so amateur. So now rather than fixing the already existing problems, they are having to focus on just getting back to where they were before.
I am resigned to the problems in atc, flight planning, flight models, weather, abysmal turbulence and wind effects never being fixed. And a lot of people seem fine with that judging by the apologists insisting we have a perfect game. Clearly not very serious simmers because at present it’s just not a flight sim. But maybe it was never going to be given the choices made about its development. The way they neutered turbulence in an earlier update because some people complained that flying in a thunderstorm gets a bit shaky shows the interest is not in realism. Cross-wind landings - no challenge whatsoever in the game.
All you have to do is look at my live streams on twitch and you will see the game crashing, and other problems in the game. They had a year on PC to fix these problems and by the looks of things they have not yet fixed them.
