WU10 is going to be the moon, and you can fly there with the Pelican.
Huh. Must be absolutely mind-blowing if thereās this much silence regarding it
I donāt know why itās such a secret if itās a World Update, though, because we usually hear something or get a trailer before it releases.
Itās either something pretty big or something not directly related to the default WUs - it could be anything from moving carriers on routes around the world to detailed data for China
I,m looking forward to tomorrow!
Or Mars, just like in good old X-Plane 7 to 9 ![]()
If itās detailed data for China consider me extremely happy because flying around China is absolutely atrocious with all of the missing stuff and those horrible multicolored patterns that look like a quilt in many areas. Iād love to fly around China that actually has good data but, Iām not sure if thatāll happen ![]()
China is actually hard to recreate due to restrictions - the Chinese government is actually not that open to other countries who want to get such data ![]()
Iām fully aware of that, which is why I said I donāt think itāll ever happen. However, there are modders who are fixing various cities of China. Guangzhou and Chongqing have already been made
So thereās hope.
With no regard for orbital mechanics or the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation⦠Just aim at the moon and burn towards it, āAsteroidsā style. Pew! Pew!!! ![]()
If it meant being able to fly around the moon with real 3d terrain Iād take that!
Thank you for your comments. The basic problem I have is the priorities that Asobo/MS seem to have chosen.
Asobo/MS not only have control over the priorities that individual teams must follow, but they also chose what teams to set up, how much training is needed to have the necessary skillset available in the future (this should have been done even before release), when to use external sources etc. The buck stops with them if they have not made the right decisions.
You can work out their obvious priorities for yourself. ATC is often cited as what simmers want fixed ( see for example:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/poll-time-please-no-more-than-5-things-you-want-the-sim-fixed-this-year-in-2022-just-5/506where) yet Asobo rarely mention it. The only reference I know of to when it may be fixed is by Working Title in a Q&A session, when they listed all they would be involved in (after discussions with Asobo), then referring to ATC as something they would look at subsequently. Obviously no priority at all.
Glitz (aka Pelican) on the other hand is released now, not even waiting for a sim or world update, and given priority for example over a hotfix for X-Box users currently suffering significant problems, who are still without any indication of when their problem will be solved. Nothing takes priority over the glitz!
I couldnāt wait to download my pre-ordered copy of the premium version of FS2020 when it was first released. But flying now is a bit like eating plum pudding and biting on a stone.
Itās almost like making an incredibly basic aircraft is nowhere near as big of a task as overhauling the existing ATC system ![]()
You seem to want them to cease all existing development across the platform to focus on fixing bugs or reworking things that are already in the sim. Literally nothing would ever get done if that were to happen. There are always going to be bugs, thatās just the nature of software development.
The Pelican was likely completed months ago and was released yesterday to coincide with the Xbox Games Showcase. Itās odd how you make assumptions about the development team and their process while simultaneously demonstrating a lack of understanding about how these decisions are made and why.
Also, this was already addressed directly by a moderator in this very thread.
Then I would like make an apology. If there was not one minute wasted on bug fixing etc, then thatās all I wanted to hearš
Iām not that confident if the teams work in the way you describe. Iām currently working at a project in a large pharmacy company with teams across the globe in which a agile development framework is used and with CI/CD pipelines integrated.
The company in question uses SAFe to align different SCRUM teams - imagine MS/Asobo use something similar Asobo only creates a list of planned features every 8 weeks in their PI and plans the releases.
Everything on (SCRUM)team level is decided by the individual teams including (business) priorities and severity of increments/stories. Onboarding of new team members also is part of the individual teams job as topics on each team are really specific.
The goal of each PI usually is to create features ready to be released within the next release, the teams goal is to meet the sprint goal for each sprint which can be something completely different.
In my case one goal was to release a new voucher system to pilot pharmacies (40k customers each day). The goal was met after 16 weeks (two PIs) and the team I work with had different sprint goals 75% of the time (bugfixing live, providing support to other teams, implementing new tools, onboardingā¦)
So there is much the customer/business does not see which is mandatory if one would like to move forward and which is not shared public.
Yesterday I stumbled upon the fact that for me at least I had to uninstall world photogrammetry in order to get good frame rates at US airports - A month of tweaking to find out items not even in the region I am flying at are causing performance issues. In this case I wish more time had been put into addressing that issue then new content.
Iām afraid weāll have to disagree, then.
Nothing you have said has convinced me that the priorities are not set by Asobo/MS, especially in light of the evidence I quoted.
Forum readers will of course have their own opinion.
Why GeeBee is in the trailer but isnāt in plane listing on news ?
I guess just to provide additional footage - actually itās payware so it should stay this way ![]()
But your looking at itā¦
āYou can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you canāt please all of the people all of the timeā.ā ā John Lydgate This is glaringly apparent in the forums.
I have uninstalled all photogrammetry and my frame rates now seem quite a lot better.
Itās no loss for me anyway as Iām not a massive fan of it.
