Ok ..The Juice Goose UTV is actually amazing

Have you tried the explore function in the dashboard? put the parking brake on right of the steering wheel it is hard to see and the explore option pops up on the dash, you can select from some various locations and then teleport. its great!!

Make sure you have crash/damage turned off. That might be the issue!

I messed around with SPAD a bit, and was able to use the Alpha yoke ‘elevator’ axis as a brake (pull back for braking) using the standard ‘Toe Brake’ events, but I haven’t figured out how to turn the wheels with what is normally the aileron axis. I see ‘Water Left Rudder Position’ variable changing when I turn the wheels with the Xbox controller, but mapping those to the Yoke axis results in really jerky and odd movement of the front wheels.

Oddly, I also see a ‘Simconnect:Elevator_Axis_Set’ event happening, but that doesn’t do anything when mapped to the Yoke either.

I also mapped the FWD/REV throttle to one of the Bravo TQ axes, using the standard sim event ‘Rudder’ - LOL.

I could probably map the brakes to my MFG pedals, but the Yoke is actually more comfortable for that.

Thank you!
Too bad it can’t be steered with a yoke, I have 0 interest to use a control for this.

I think it can. I posted on their Discord, and another user said he was using a standard aileron binding for steering.

I use SPAD, and I tried the standard aileron event, but it didn’t work.
Maybe I have some weird control binding conflict. I need to check into it further. Or maybe I’ll end up creating an ‘aircraft specific’ HC Alpha profile for the Juice Goose.

BTW AvAngel says she controls throttle and brake with her rudder pedals.
I’d rather use the Bravo axis for throttle and the Alpha yoke X-axis for braking.
Feels more like a UTV to me.

@LuisArgerich

ETA: I discovered what I think was a control binding conflict (Water_Rudder_Toggle)
When I deleted that keyboard binding I was able to assign ‘Ailerons’ in SPAD to my Alpha Yoke, and steering worked perfectly. I didn’t need to change any axis sensitivity/deadzone/etc. for it to feel very natural.
I don’t see why the in-sim ailerons binding wouldn’t work just as well.

I just scaled Mount Saint Helens. Lotsa fun and some treacherous crevasses in the main crater, so watch out! My route on the western edge of the crater led to success.

Picked this up today for 2024 based on the recommendations here. I am having fun with it. I had quite a laugh when I saw this guy zooming around the Goose Bowl scenery in Oregon. At first I thought it was someone on a mobility scooter, but on closer inspection it is a lawn chair strapped to a Onewheel! I can’t wait to explore more of this area.

Alright I’m sold. If/when FS24 gets out of a beta state and I buy it, I almost certainly will get this. Sounds like too much fun to pass up!

Can someone explain how this works in more detail?
Let’s assume a scenario where one would do some island hopping with a GA plane.
After another landing on a small strip on an island, would you be able to do the following in the same current free flight session:

  • leave your plane
  • instantly switch to the vehicle and start driving around wherever you want
  • come back to your plane
  • re-enter the plane and fly to the next island

Would be annoying if you’d have to switch back and forth between different free flight sessions.

Not possible, as I understand it.
As far as the sim is concerned, the Goose is just another ‘aircraft.’
Being able to do what you suggest would be awesome.

Thanks so much for the clarification, that’s sad to hear. In this case I’ll pass.

I use slew mode to move the Goose around from place to place.
Explore one island, then hop to another.

It really is a worthwhile addon.

I’d like to be able to fly a STOL plane from a remote strip to a bigger airport, walk over to a bizjet, and hop in without having to exit the flight and start a new one.

Can’t do that either.

Well, in Developer Mode you can use the Aircraft Loader to switch to another aircraft on the fly without having to end the flight.

So you could transform your aircraft into the Goose and then transform it back into the aircraft of choice once you’re done. It’s not ideal and doesn’t keep your aircraft settings but better than ending the flight.

Thanks so much for that tip.
I’m definitely going to try it!

You cant switch without going back to the menu

I just loaded into the C185 Skywagon at KSEZ Ramp 4.
I used the Dev Mode Aircraft Selector to switch to the Juice Goose.
No need to do anything but that. This is huge for my camping expedition dreams. Thanks again, @Jigsaw407 !!

SPAD recognized the switch, and loaded the correct profile.

Just keep in mind that your flight times are not being tracked in Dev Mode.

Thanks. I should probably worry about that more. But in FS2020 my logbook was a mess.

The juice goose is well worth the $15. In my opinion of having it for the first month or so once I got it, I never went back to my other driving mods because it is that good. It uses your typical driving controls as well and it drives and feels like it is supposed to, accelerates and stops like it should. Unlike other ones that rely on throttle to accelerate and deccelerate.
