Ok ..The Juice Goose UTV is actually amazing

So I bought the Juice Goose UTV for MSFS 2024 as an impulse purchase, again breaking my rule of not buying anything at all for MSFS 2024 until I have all my add-ons back, but anyway..

When this originally came out I thought to myself what an absolute joke this is, this is a flight sim. Well I can not impress upon you fellow simmers with an open mind just how much fun and how much this actually adds to your sim. You can explore the entire world on road or off road, It comes with many sceneries to have a blast in, all available from with in the UTV its self where you can teleport around.

The actual physics and handling are on another level and are better than many racing/off road sims, it is utterly unbelievable just how good and how much fun this is.

All of the Sceneries are available on the map to fly to, so I flew into I08 (not a scenery that is part of this add-on) with a nice STOL plane, then reloaded the sim in the UTV and I just went exploring around the mountains, and I drove and drove for hours and it was both liberating and amazing. I then drove back, reloaded back in my plane and flew back to Mc Call.

I honestly say for the price you have to try this beauty out. It is not a plane and it sounds bonkers driving in a dedicated flight sim, but it really isn’t, I really hope P42 make more of this and really expand it out, and I really want the FOX back in FS2024 too.

Please dont pass this up, it is amazing and fun!

Tempted to give this a go, and hook up my racing pedals, and wheel.

I would honestly say an XBOX 360 Pad is enough.

Looks cool. I think I’ll buy it.

Does it have its own hotkey for switching to the controller?

ETA: I’m wondering if I can control it with my Yoke/Throttle (maybe pedal brakes too?

I dont know, I just turn off all my flight Sticks, yokes, throttles and just use my 360 pad, when I want to fly I just turn them back on. I connect all my flight stuff to a powered USB Hub with buttons on each port so I can turn them on and off, that way I avoid port wear with unplugging and plugging back in.

Probably, I did not want to go that deep. I just used my 360 Pad (8BitDo) and it works like Forzza, GT etc.

Gotcha. I have blank profiles for my Alpha/Bravo/Rudder.
So if I don’t program it in SPAD they won’t be active.

Does the default controller profile just automatically work?
i.e. you don’t have to enter Drone mode?

In FS2020 the ground level detail wasn’t good enough to warrant the purchase, but that has changed dramatically with FS2024. I will definitely pick this one up tonight.

But I really hope they tackle the Kitfox next because that one doesn’t work at all in FS2024. When I select it my PC goes into full leaf blower mode, even on the world map, and the flight simply doesn’t load. It is a Flight sim after all, so I really like to have aircraft as well.

It probably depends on which regions you wish to drive in. Northern latitudes typically being worse, if I remember right. I found some places looked like they were from either Minecraft or a Super Mario game.

Yes it just works, I had no need to set anything up at all. Just default XBOX 360 controller with no other controller connected.

Also there are many options within the ATV as well. I got to say driving down the Vegas Strip was fun, then off into the mountains. It even has a Rock crawler model. Too much fun, then fly right out of there in your CUB etc.

Thanks. I bought the Goose. Will try it out today!

Nah, the trees were pixelated sprites Wing Commander style everywhere and the mushy ground textures were nowhere near as good even in the best of places.

Hm … I’ve seen better servers.

To be fair, that time was accurate when I had 56k…

+1, Juice Goose is awesome! Now when I fly over areas I note ones that would be fun to explore using the Goose. It really is awesome, highly recommended.

I wonder if I can setup my right toe brakes as accelerator and the left ones as brakes, maybe the flaps as the geart shift and I assume the yoke is ok as a wheel.
If that is possible then it might be fun.
In some video I saw it was just too fast and chaotic, I would like to use it just to cruise around at a decent speed, not for stunts jumps or anything crazy.

You can do all of that & more. You can drive it around the roads like a regular Sunday driver if you like. There are games that claim to be open world, well this truly is. I drove for an hour in Utah across dirt tracks and stuff, then I went rock climbing.

I would strongly suggest a 360 pad, but each to their own, it isn’t wasted as a 360 pad is great for the drone view in MSFS.

To put this in to perspective, I could be flying the FF 777V2 or the 767/757 or the A330-900 Neo or the A3XX/Neo / 737-XXX, CL650, CJ525 in X-Plane or the very few add-on’s I have in MSFS 2024, and no, here I am driving around in the UTV in a flight sim because it is just so much fun.

Yeah, I just restarted my router and now it works normally. Probably some hickup with the DSL synchronization and not the server’s fault. About to juice the Goose in a couple of minutes.

Awesome hope you enjoy it.

Just took my first drive. What a blast! The controls are laid out pretty intuitively, and the model itself looks great (especially at night) and handles really well. You can crawl, or blast around on dunes in RWD. Works really well with Tobii. Good FPS at reasonable LOD settings (100/200.) I may try bumping TLOD up since fast driving caused grass clumps to ‘pop in.’

This wil be a lot of fun when bush flying to a spot, then loading //42 Campout and the UTV and driving around the area before camping under the stars with a fire burning and my dog by my side. It has a ‘breadcrumb’ feature (which I haven’t explored yet) that draws a track of where you’ve been, so you don’t get lost in the Australian Outback or Bigfoot territory in the Pacific Northwest.

There were a couple of things I need to sort through, but I can’t report them to //42 on their Discord until I’ve had a chance to repeat them.

  • Driving around Maui I fell down cliffs, tumbling 50 feet at a time, on what looked to be flat terrain. This only happened when driving through trees. A controller button easily rights the thing, so it’s no big deal. No crash damage either, but maybe that’s an option.

  • When I slewed to a new location, the throttle became a little glitchy.

Overall though, a great little $15 addition to my hangar. Sure beats walking.

Thanks for the heads up, OP!
